Over the years as public health officials came to understand the dangers to public health of things like smoking cigarettes and drinking and driving, regulations were put in place to limit advertising products like liquor and cigarettes. In many instances the people that produce these products were actually required to put warning labels on their goods.

Just think if someone came up with an advertising campaign designed to convince people the drinking whiskey improves your ability to drive automobiles. And that the campaign also suggested that drunk driving laws were unconstitutional and should be ignored. Then they hired a NASCAR driver who drove a slalom course after drinking whiskey to prove that he could drive the course better than a Baptist minister who had no whiskey at all to “prove” their point. Would anyone be in favor of forcing social media companies and broadcasters to host this message knowing that a number of gullible i***ts would buy into it at a cost of some of their lives and risk to society at large.

This is exactly what is happening right now with the outrageous disinformation about v*****es and the p******c. A number of crackpots, conspiracy theorists and moron actually equate stoping these dangerous lies with c*******m.

I don't recall that beliefs are regulated by the ATF, such as beliefs that an e******n was r****d or that there was e******n f***d. I don't think they also regulate questions about v*****es or peoples beliefs that the v*****es aren't needed, are they????

Beliefs and opinions are our own and not subject to control or suppression. And people are not to be robbed of their freedom to choose or not to choose. If I say the v*****e is not necessary and someone believes it, that is their problem, not mine. Or rather if I express my belief in the v*****e and it causes and adverse reaction or even death, am I responsible for their choice that they made for themselves? Should we go back and prosecute those who said hydrozychloroquin was no good and might even k**l someone when in fact we know that the survival rate of c***d is 3 fold higher with it's use? How many died because the chose not to get hydroxychloroquin when they might have survived if they had had it to use??

Sad that an American adult, assuming you are an American adult, does not even understand the concept and purpose of "freedom of speech".

Social media is the primary attack point of our enemies. What better way is there to sow discontent, division and civil unrest, thus rendering us impotent?

Who is FORCING social media companies to spread what you believe is disinformation. When censorship is not only allowed, not only condoned, but encouraged for one issue; soon it will spread to cover any topic which whoever is in charge wants to suppress. Let everyone have their say. It is the responsibility of adults to decide what they will believe. Whether that be true, false, or simply opinion is not anyone's job to regulate for others. This takes accepting responsibility for your own life and not crying for big brother to protect you from the uncomfortable realities of life-- including hearing a wide range of conflicting narratives.

It's doubtful anyone has concern for your "impotent" problem.
That's been known for some time.

None of this would be an issue if social media was not a monopoly. If the industry was a diffuse as the internet nobody could shut anybody up. Just as talk radio is the main outlet for anti propaganda media, why doesn't anyone just start up new social media alternatives ? Or am I naive ?
