Somehow the idea that guns don't k**l people is great until I point out a nine-year old, a fully-automatic Uzi, and an instructor. And I keep hearing about a hammer and nails. A hammer was designed to drive nails, and a weapon was designed to k**l. I understand this, but conservatives don't. I own guns, and I use guns. But I also understand that I have to keep them locked up, and use really good judgement with them. Because I have a nine-year old, a twelve-year old, and because people steal guns and use them.

When I was 9 and 10 years old, I was using a power mower. I was hardly unique. I had my own .22 and had already been taken on squirrel and jackrabbit hunts. I was hardly unique in this, either. It was fairly commonplace. Except for the pistol I carry everyday, my firearms are unloaded and locked in a heavy steel safe that is extremely difficult to break into. It is also through bolted to the floor. I qualified expert with both rifle and pistol in the Army. (MPs had to qualify on the .45 ). I have shot competition as a civilian, against active duty cops and won more than I lost. Most importantly, I have been shot at and shot back. I don't speak theoretically.

I let my child target practice with an air rifle. She doesnt know how to load it or pump it up. She just knows how to aim and fire. Id rather my kids know and understand the proper use of firearms, because i hunt and will pass the tradition that was taught to me. And to skott you might wanna SHOW your child the proper use of power tools and lawnequipment. Hell by the time i was 9 i could run a bushog

No stupidity k**led - not the little girl. We have all read stories where a kid got into a car that was left running hit the gas pedal and ran over someone. Do we ban cars?
Cars are involved in more deaths than guns every year. Do we ban cars? People die in fires - do we ban matches?
People drown - to we eliminate water?
Guns are no different - they need to managed properly. Everything is dangerous is used improperly, including water and food. Common sense is needed - not blanket outrage about the wrong things. Of course no one likes to see some k**led with a gun - but guess what if k**lers don't have a gun they will k**l people in other ways. K**lers are the problem not guns. We should eliminate k**lers, not guns. Just like we attempt to take poor drivers off the road - we don't eliminate cars so the people that no how to drive can't drive.

the instructor was responsible for his own death, he should never have allowed the gun to be put on full auto as for target practice you need practice with any gun you use

it doesn't have to be full auto it can be single shot selected

I was driving a tractor unsupervised when I was nine I was already practiced before that
