Put your dog up, we're trying to do our job!

I've only been on this job for 2 years now, but this IS a real thing. Fortunately, I haven't been bitten yet. I've fended off several exceptionally aggressive attacks using pepper spray, and shoved my scanner down the throat of a few. I've now had one come at me 2 days in a row, hard, mean, and fast. The pepper spray backed her off both days from point blank range. Yesterday, I was cautious because this isn't my route, and there was a warning card there, as well as a notification on my scanner. But, when she came out from under that bush where I couldn't see her as I approached, it was game on! The pepper spray barely barely saved me. I hit her at point blank range while doing everything they "trained" me to do. Same thing today, only, I was walking in the street, going around that house, since they will no longer be having mail delivered. Here she came. Hot, viscous, and coming in low. More pepper spray.

Just put your damn dogs up!
The letter carrier wants to go home intact after work!!

Won't be. The only way they can get mail delivered to their house now is to move. 3 strikes, you're out.

You haven't lost an encounter yet, so you're the bad dog in your zip code. Stay safe Archie. Just hope none of those dogs are high on crack, meth, or have rabies. Maybe a stun gun or hotshot would work better as a deterrent. Spray first and shock second just to reinforce your top dog status so they never forget, you're not to be trifled with. Plus, a hotshot makes an okay club, in a pinch. It works on cattle who refuse to load sometimes. At least dogs don't have horns or hooves. Just a suggestion, if it won't get you fired. I'd prefer not to hurt any animal, but if they're trying to hurt me, I'm not against taking additional measures, short of shooting them.
