Does anyone believe this Act gives the President, who I believe is illegal, too much power to turn it against us.

Absolutely. Every time we pass laws for "security" the government gets stronger and the individual weaker.

I don't worry about Obama following the law. I worry about him breaking it. Patriot Act is peanuts compared to the illegal crap he's doing.

Do I, I think I'm the poster child for that statement. It was the reason I left the republican party.
Obamya claimed he would repeal it in 2008, but instead found new ways to manipulate it into the data mining/ collecting monstrosity we have today.
You mean you don't buy the freshly printed birth certificate as a real one? ;)
Needless to say I'm leaning hard right again, as this seems to be one of many issues I have w/ this administration.

It gives Gov. agencies the power to arrest first, find evidence later. No more "probable cause" required, as it can be obtained later - by any means necessary. No evidence? No problem, it can be created easily, since there is no chain of custody AFTER THE FACT.

Bothering your local politician too much? Harassment or stalking charges coming your way. With the PA, it isn't innocent until proven guilty anymore.

The Patriot Act is by far the worst attack on democracy ever organized. All those brave men and women who lost their lives defending this country against foreign invaders, were betrayed by Congress v****g for this attack on basic liberty and rights, paradoxically called The Patriot Act. N**ism, C*******m, Socialism and all terrorists groups put together are no bigger a threat to America than the Patriot Act.

I think you are naive, if not paranoid.

Okay, ty for sharing. Have any reasonable arguments with that assessment? Am I paranoid about what the NSA is doing?

Yes, perhaps I am too, but mostly I worry about how data is used illegally.

The IRS acted illegally to forward politics, the justice department is corrupt, and Rice is proven to be a bold faced liar and political hack.

No freaking telling what they're doing with data they are collecting, but the legal part can be monitored by congress and judicial system, the illegal part? Not so much.
