We have lived here and there all our lives. But we don't want here to be like there, wherever here and there are...or were. If here were like there what would be the point in coming here, even though you can't ever duplicate there here, not fully anyway. Who would want to do that to here? Those who are here but want to be there, so they work to make here there? Or do they just go there from here?

My neighbor got mad about something and wanted to tell me about it. He said he was "beside" himself with rage. After he went on for a while, he stopped, and asked me why I was looking to his right instead of his face. I said "you told me you were beside yourself, so I was trying to look eye to eye. Why, did I pick the wrong side?".
He doesn't vent on me anymore.

Pretty sure the people of Washington and Oregon felt the same 30 years ago, it didn't work out very well for them. Unfortunately it probably won't work out here either.
