Stop Asking People If They’ve Gotten A C****-** V*****e
It’s not just rude and selfish to pry into other people’s private medical decisions, it’s also unscientific and totally unnecessary.
By John Daniel Davidson
APRIL 27, 2021
Imagine a neighbor or coworker asking whether you’ve had some medical procedure or treatment. Had your prostate exam yet? Gotten a pap smear? How’s your BMI doing? How about that HPV shot?

Obviously, no normal person would do that because it would be shockingly rude and inappropriate. Yet for some reason a surprising number of people think it’s perfectly okay to ask their neighbors and coworkers whether they’ve gotten a C****-** v*****e.

Even worse, employers and school administrators seem to think it’s okay to ask subordinates and students about their “v*****e status.” Indeed, a growing number of colleges and universities, including major public university systems like the University of California and California State University, as well as Maryland’s state university system, are planning to impose v*****e mandates on all students, staff, and faculty for the fall term.

Don’t want to get the v*****e? You better have a good reason — and you better be prepared to tell your employer or school all about it.

Some might say that asking about or even mandating a C****-** v*****e is okay because there’s a public health concern. We want to control the spread of the c****av***s, don’t we? No one’s going to ask you about your prostate exam because prostate cancer isn’t communicable but c****av***s very much is, so asking about it, or even mandating a v*****e, is fair game.

Well, not so fast. Historically, v*****e mandates in America have been rare and localized. We’ve never had a national v*****e mandate, not even for diseases like polio and smallpox. Sure, some l*****ts like Obamacare architect Ezekiel Emanuel wants very badly to impose a national v*****e mandate, as he argued last week in The New York Times. He’d like to see tens of millions of v*****e-hesitant Americans forcibly v******ted, as well as all schoolchildren, with no “religious or philosophical exemptions” allowed.

Then again, Emanuel also thinks everyone should want to die at age 75 — he’s 63, only 12 years left! — so his views are not exactly representative.

Your Boss Isn’t Entitled to an Explanation
But leaving aside radicals like Emanuel, what about ordinary Americans who think they have a right to know who’s been v******ted and who hasn’t? First, we need to start thinking about what these new C****-** v*****es really are: they aren’t traditional v*****es and could be reasonably described as new medical treatments.

Traditional v*****es, like for the seasonal flu, involve injecting a weakened version of a v***s to stimulate the body’s natural production of antibodies against it. But the P****r and M*****a v*****es use a novel m**A technology that delivers genetic information directly to the body’s cells, instructing them to make proteins associated with C****-** so that they can recognize the v***s and develop antibodies to fight it.

It’s impressive technology, but also extremely new and relatively untested. Usually, v*****es go through years of clinical trials before they get FDA approval, but not this time. The C****-** v*****es went through months, not years, of trials, which is one reason they only have “emergency use” authorization from the FDA, which had never before approved an m**A v*****e.

So it’s not crazy to be hesitant about taking one of these new v*****es. Their long-term effects are as yet unknown, as are their effects on pregnant women and fertility. Indeed, there were no pregnant women involved in the clinical trials for either the P****r or M*****a v*****es, and P****r only announced in February that it’s planning to run a mass clinical trial with pregnant women, the results of which won’t be in until January 2023.

Concern about the effects on fertility and pregnancy isn’t some crazy conspiracy theory. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) itself states that “there are currently limited data on the safety of C****-** v*****es in pregnant people,” and that, “We need to continue to follow pregnancies long-term to understand effects on pregnancy and infants.” So it’s understandable that pregnant women or couples hoping to conceive might have qualms about getting these shots.

What’s not understandable is that anyone should be expected to explain all of this to an employer. Imagine a male boss asking a female subordinate whether and when she’s going to get a C***D v*****e, potentially putting her in the awkward position of having to divulge very private, sensitive medical information.

It would be a massive invasion of privacy, and in any other context would earn that boss a justified slap across the face. It also might bias employers against v*****e-hesitant employees or pose barriers for advancement — for example, in firms that require employees to be v******ted before traveling for work.

Simply put, though, your boss has no right to ask you why you haven’t yet gotten any medical treatment, let alone a novel therapy that might have long-term consequences for your ability to start a family. No one should have to answer those questions from an employer, any more than they should have to answer any other private medical question. It’s none of your boss’s business, period.

Instead Of Being Rude, Maybe Try Following Science
For those who want to justify such crass invasions of privacy on the grounds that they’re just trying to “slow the spread,” they should pay attention to the science and data we have after more than a year of this p******c. C****av***s cases are now plummeting nationwide, partly because of v******tions, partly because strategies to contain the v***s appear to be working, as do better treatment strategies for those who do get sick, and partly because a great many Americans (perhaps more than half) obviously have some immune protection.

We know that C***D-related deaths have been steadily declining since January, as have hospitalizations. We know that the vast majority of those who have died from C****-** are over the age of 65 and have pre-existing comorbidities, which substantially weakens the case for forcibly v******ting all schoolchildren or forcing all colleges and universities to mandate v*****es. We know all this, yet many Americans, including people in positions of power, are still acting as if everyone is equally at risk from c****av***s, or that masks are still necessary for people who have been fully v******ted.

V******ted people who feel it’s their right to pry into the medical decisions of others, and justify it with the argument that they don’t want to get infected from an unv******ted person, should pause to consider that their chances of getting sick from C****-** after being v******ted are extremely low. Last week, the CDC said that of the 78 million Americans who at the time had been v******ted (the number is now about 96 million) only 5,800 had subsequently caught C****-**, or about 0.007 percent. Of those, 74 died, or about 0.00009 percent.

If you’re worried that you have a 0.007 percent chance of getting C****-**, or a 0.00009 percent chance of dying from it, and therefore you think you have a right to ask everyone around you if they’ve been v******ted, well, I don’t know what to tell you. Follow the science, for one thing. Also, maybe just stay away from me.

In any case, don’t ask me if I’ve been v******ted. It’s rude.

It's easy to answer............if you've had your shots. Don't want to explain why you haven't been v******ted? Tough s**t.

Your right about one thing, being an easy question to answer:

That is none of your damned business!

That's easy for you to say since you've received your AIDS cocktail of meds and are no longer spreading it like Typhoid Mary. You want an answer? Like they say in Russia, "Tough S**tski!" (I suppose I should ask Proud Republican if that's how it is said."

Medical records are private. It's no one business. The only situation I can see where you should have a v*****e record is when traveling between countries. However, consider that the Biden Administration is letting I*****l I*******ts into this country without v*****es, nor are they giving them v*****es before they release them to travel freely throughout the country. This is more l*****t incrementalism to slowly erode our rights. Is anyone paying attention?

The Padres baseball team is selling two kinds of tickets to games; one type of ticket is for those with proof of v******tion, the other for social distancing seats. Not that it matters to me because I won't be buying baseball tickets this season unless MLB moves the All-Star game back to Atlanta. If a business wants to ask if I have received a v******tion, I'll take my business elsewhere. People have to stand up to this tyranny. If you've been v******ted, what is there to worry about? That is unless these v*****es do not really work. Masks do nothing to stop the spread of the v***s. The best prevention is your personal habits and hygiene, such as not touching your face or rubbing your eyes, as well as public places and businesses, which have been sanitizing their locations the way they should have always been doing so, to protect the public's health.

I no longer fly Delta (United nor American) airlines, use Coca-Cola products, attend or watch NBA games, and Baseball. If these companies/entities decide to stay out of politics then I may reconsider, but until then, I can live without them, without any hardship on my part.

People have changed. They’re more robotic and seem unwilling to think. Look whats happening. Lockdown restrictions that make
no logical sense, pushback for cheap, effective treatments, doctors with nothing to gain being censored...and more. Why won’t people open their eyes? So much of what’s going on just doesn’t make sense.

Half of the people in our country were born after or are too young to remember the collapse of the Soviet Union. Most of the under-40 crowd have never learned about the evils of c*******m. A good percentage of those born before that, are l*****ts. You (well, maybe not you in particular) would be surprised how many c*******ts, socialists, and Marxists live here and are using our system against us, trying to destroy America. The sad thing is that they think they won't be next if they succeed. That's the problem with being one of the useful i***ts to the left. They won't have a say in creating their new dystopia. Instead, they will become the new serfs to their oligarch overlords. They h**e America and everything it stands for.

Hey wake up to reality there, those who have not been v******ted are going to feel a certain stigma as well as exclusion from events and gatherings. You aren't going to be asked as much as those who have are going to make it clear.

You haven't seen the end of this evolution baby...the fall and winter we'll be seeing those who have not been v******ted dropping off like flies, a large percentage will be rethinking their decision not to be v******ted as they realize the only people being hospitalized and dying are anti-v**xers. This will result in a heightened sense of excluding them from social events, and make no mistake, it is every business owner's right to decide who sets foot in their establishment in the interest of creating a safer environment.

They are experimental v*****es, and the makers had qualified immunity from lawsuits from the beginning.

Our household had one case; the other members didn't catch it despite the 103 degrees F of the member which had the v***s. Members of the household will not be taking the v*****e.

Household members did not catch the v***s after being exposed on three different occasions. The one that had it did not catch it again either.

We did isolate to protect others.

That's right, it is a person's choice but you still fail to answer the question. If you have been v******ted, what do you have to be afraid of from unv******ted people? You continue to deflect and not answer the question, which leaves me with one conclusion; you don't have an answer or can't answer the question. Everything you subscribe to has no basis in scientific evidence.
