Redwoods and Sequoias are mostly north of San Francisco. Where it's marked "Tourists" would be about where Yosemite is.

Yes, but the Sequoia National Park and Kings National park is in the southern Sierra Nevada range and this is where the General Sherman Tree is located, perhaps the largest and oldest Sequoia Tree. Sequoias grow in more than one place in CA. The biggest is in Sequoia and Kings Park.

Yosemite is the most visited park by tourists and doesn't have Giant Sequoias as does Kings and Sequoia Nat'l Parks have. Sorry, everything is in the right place. A common misconception about the Redwoods having the Largest Trees. Yes, the redwoods are big, but not as big as the giant Sequoias in the Southern Sierra Nevada Range.

Me, too. Do you remember when they tried to split California in half? The north was more conservative and wanted to be separate from the south.

There are still some beautiful places in California but they're mostly too touristy or too socialist!

I apologize. My mistake. We went to the Hendy Woods where there are redwood trees and lots of ferns.
One of the larger trees there had fallen and its roots were about two stories tall. I just remember it being enormous and beautiful because ferns were growing out of the roots.

In places where trees had fallen across the path, sections were cut out and turned into benches.

It's a common error. I used to think the biggest trees were in the redwoods when I was a kid. I was in college when I learned otherwise. I remember as a kid going to the Redwoods on vacation and there was a drive-thru tree. When you are about 5 years old that is pretty impressive. And some of those redwoods grow taller than a football field length. Some are estimated to be older than 2000 years old.

How about Seattle and Portland. That's where I see them now.

Thank you for understanding.

The wind in the redwood treetops is music to my ears.

One mans trash is another man's treasure.
California is a beautiful state with ugly politics. I live between the Meth and the Vegas Traffic. Not the prettiest part of the state. But it grows on you. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets most every day. And it's quiet enough to hear yourself think.? But an off-road vehicle is a must. IMHO.
Also this map is fairly accurate.
