A true patriot considers not how his/her actions impacts his/ her self rather we consider how it affects the community in which they are an active participant in, keeping in mind all long running affects in the community.

Welcome aboard. I agree with you. . You are in for a rocky ride, so fasten your seat belt. I hope you enjoy it. I have.
What a delightful looking family you have. And allow me to echo the warm reception you have receive from others.
I am agree with your post for the most part. Whist it is important to be compassionate and forward thinking about community, it is equally important to be well informed. Many civilizations have taken wrong turns with their citizens in tow because those citizens went along for the good of their community. Take for example the Aztec civilization, for the good of the community they deforested their habitation, that caused a domino effect with polluted waters, loss of wild life ensued, and so on. Societies have disappeared and many conclude that the reason is very mundane, such as pollution of waters and hunting grounds, wide spread drought, and so on. To mention a few Khmer Empire of Cambodia, the Minoan society of Crete or two ancient civilizations right here in the United States. Home to one of the greatest man-made architectural wonders of the ancient world, the Indus Valley Civilization (known at the height of its influence as the Harappan Civilization) was among the largest early urban settlements on any continent. Located in modern-day Pakistan, the Indus Valley Civilization thrived 4,500 years ago and was then forgotten but for local legends until ruins were excavated in the 1920s. And again for one of the most powerful empires of Southeast Asia, the Khmer civilization spread from modern-day Cambodia out into Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and Malaysia and is best known today for Angkor, its capital city. The empire dates back to 802 CE. Other than stone inscriptions, no written records survive. I could go on, but I will spare you. Blind patriotism and going along to get along is a pretty bad idea. I am patriotic, but I do not follow blindly nor do I put too much stock into the politically correct thinking.

I believe that this falls under the heading of "ask not what your country can do for you...". A refreshing perspective. Welcome. If you have perused this site you are aware that tempers sometimes flare. It beats apathy.
