Why do they think that politics can drive technological advancements, industrial applications, mass appeal, cost reductions, and buyer's se******n in a mostly free economy? Only because they think like C*******t dictators.

Ford Motors has already scheduled getting rid of gas powered autos.

Read the article. California has silicon Valley in San Jose. Is anyone aware of the massive amounts of electricity that computers use? Perhaps getting rid of that industry also would help with saving the environment by reducing the need to produce electricity. Oh! I forgot, during the day the sun will produce electricity and at night the wind will blow so the windmills can produce electricity.
Prior to 1950 Southern California had a fair public t***sit system. The yellow streetcars in Los Angeles from East LA to the coast in Santa Monica. Collector bus lines from the east side cities into East LA. To go to San Bernardino, Riverside, Santa Ana, Long Beach and communities between there were the Big Red Cars of the Pacific Electric Line. Gone, all gone. Those companies were owned by private companies without government support. Today the Los Angeles area is rebuilding, since 1990, a rail system but by county government. Needless to say that it will not operate nearly as efficiently as did the ones under private ownership. Difference? The first had to make a profit to remain in operation while the government one can tap into public funds and does not need to make a profit. Private enterprise vs. C*******m.
The article mentioned asthma. Before the 1970’s there were few blowers used for sweeping things up, like grass trimmings and dirt and leaves in drive ways. Ever noticed the amounts of dust particles sent into the air by those machines? Brooms were used in the past and asthma was not an epidemic among children and adults.

So Democrats want electric cars?? What about if you're on freeway and you run out of juice? You still need gas to finish your trip, right?

I’m not sure Ford is really that stupid, but if they are, I will just have to keep my F150 Sport. I’m WAY too old to start looking for a “charging station”. I see Ford’s new electric “Mustang” SUV is really taking off. LOL!! Only electric Mustang I ever saw that was worth a crap was my 1/25 scale slot car back in late 60s.
Electrics are smooth and quiet; little or no pollution; good acceleration; comfort as good as my Toyota Avalon; and, for Tesla, a ton of inventive things to use. However, the damned things are far, far too expensive at the moment. All the other makers are playing catchup to Tesla, who is steadily making great improvements in their products, even after sale, via software. If Tesla comes out with a really well-equipped $30K version with excellent range, I will give it a hard look sometime this year. I am not very interested in self-driving capabilities though, but safety, yes!
