Convicting Timothy McVeigh was no feat at all. I am happy his parents came to America legally. You have to do better than Yahoo & Wikipedia. Wikipedia had Harris’ parents listed as C*******ts before she became V.P. Running mate.

I am not saying he is a bad man, just he is hard left of center. 20 Republicans v****g for him means nothing to me. Joe Manchin is the only Democrat I would speak to. There is not 50 Republicans I would speak to.

We have elected fools & morons who believe there is a profession called Professional Politician. That was not what the Founders envisioned anymore than they could conceive of a population of the level of ignorance we have w/o respect for anyone, anything, no work ethic, no moral compass.

Garland Merrick has no record of prosecuting any l*****t for any crime. Anyone Obama thinks is good has to be bad for the country.

Even while suspecting no amount of info on Garland would sway you, I shall present one last link (see below) on Mr. Garland. It is dated prior to his Mitch McConnell-foiled nomination for SCOTUS, but remains pertinent as to his high qualifications. He was considered, by far, to be the most qualified for SCOTUS at the time of his nomination. Partisan politics (via Mr. McConnell)...as has been usual for some time now, played the pivotal, if not only role in his being denied.

BTW, I did not use Yahoo as a link source in my previous posting.

I suspect the following may be somewhat more palatable for you, DaWg44...

https://www.democracynow.org/2021/1/8/elie_mystal_joe_biden_justice_dept

...from it: "Elie Mystal, justice correspondent for *The Nation, says Garland is an “underwhelming” pick, given his judicial record. “People need to remember that Garland was picked for the Supreme Court because he was a compromise candidate,” says Mystal. “This is a centrist jurist who has a history — a troubling history, to me — of being deferential to police and being unwilling to hold police accountable for acts of brutality and misconduct.”

*As I'm sure you realize, The Nation may well be the country's #1 liberal/progressive publication.

Merrick Garland was confirmed as Attorney General and the 1st thing he is doing is going after those who attacked the US capitol. Is this a good use of his time or should he focus on something else?

Garland was confirmed with 70 v**es in the Senate including 20 Republicans. Pause for a moment and remember he was Obama’s choice to fill the SCOTUS vacancy left by the death of Antonin Scalia 10 months before the 2016 e******n.

There is a new head of the US Justice Department in town. Let the r****ts, w***e s*********ts and those who wish to take down the US be aware they have no place to hide

Mitch McConnell famously refused to even consider Garland who in his AG confirmation hearings was simply a star. He is everything anyone would want in an Attorney General. Absolutely committed to the US, its rights, laws, system and beholding to no one. The son of immigrants who fled the holocaust he couldn’t hold back his emotions when he remembered his commitment and thanks to the country that saved his family and took them in.

Would you want to be a 'proud boy' now or an 'oath-keeper' or any of the right-wing w***e s*********t groups? Garland is the one who successfully prosecuted Timothy McVeigh for the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.

He is thorough, meticulous, tenacious, fair and most importantly committed to justice for all and will not stop until every single one of the perpetrators and i**********nists who ransacked the US Capitol on J****** 6 are caught, prosecuted and punished for their crimes against the country that he respects and loves and has taken an oath to defend which I most certainly believe he would do including giving his life if necessary.

That is the kind of Justice he would have made on the US Supreme Court. McConnell deprived our nation of a brilliant jurist committed to the rule of law with nary a flaw otherwise how would 20 Republicans v**e to confirm in these partisan times.

We are indeed fortunate that Garland was patient and has waited for a chance to really serve his country again and this time in a capacity which we really need. Someone seeking justice and to end this plague of w***e s*******y that is a cancer on America.

Every American should be thrilled and relieved that we have someone on our side for a change and not on the side of r****ts as the last administration was so proud to proclaim. There will be no more stand back and stand by with Garland. There will be no stand your ground or good people on both sides.

There will be justice for all and respect for law and for each other with no group allowed to dominate or threaten because they feel like it or they want to believe some nonsense lies about a s****n e******n.

Welcome Merrick, we too have been waiting patiently, for you to be allowed to serve the US and there couldn’t have been a better more critical moment than right now.

We all wish you well, God-speed and have a clear mind and determination. Every right-thinking American who appreciates and loves our country and democracy will be right there with you.

One thing AG Merrick WON'T do, is bow to pressure from the WH, Congress or any other extra judicial source.

I'll just bet you can show us, chapter and verse, exactly WHERE in US law the Senate is required to give anyone a hearing for SCOTUS justice? That's what I thought.

I did not say we had such a law..

but we should consider the intent of how our government operates.

In addition the founders may well have imagined that those who served in government would be ethical and true to country.

Holding Garland at bay for nearly a year without allowing a hearing on his nomination and then rushing at flank speed to get trump 3rd hoped for rubber stamp into the court with only weeks left in his tenure, makes a mockery of all the intents and expectations of our founding fathers..

And now you will say, rightly, how the heck would we know what the founders expected and anticipated?
Most of the people on OPP on any discussion of American politics would hold that the founders were ethical men. rather then dwell on money influence of the Washington's and Jefferson's of the day.. I also choose to see them as very inspiring individuals who held a huge expectation for the scruples of future politicians.. the t***h seems far below any bar they could have intended to create..

It is amazing how well the democrat dumbing down process has worked on all the sheeple. It actually spreads faster than C***d **.

According to his Congressional testimony, people who attack Federal facilities during daylight hours are guilty of a crime. I await his assignment of a Federal Prosecutor to indict and prosecute the A****a thugs who stormed the Federal courthouse and attempted to set fire, while people were in it, yesterday.

My wager is he does NOT walk his talk.

I must have missed the “proudly r****m” of the previous administration. You got a little brainwashed on that one. if you tell people that a blue shirt is really white and tell people that for years, does the blue shirt become white in your eyes?

For all my fondness of Slatten, the answer to your question is it matters not a whit whether the groups you mentioned are indicted or prosecuted. He has bought into the belief there is a vast group of w***e s*********t roaming the country seeking to create chaos.

Do not hold your breath. Watching his Congressional testimony clearly shows it is highly unlikely.

It just so happens that I'm rather fond of you too, H.H.I.C, despite some variances in our ways of thinking.

Take care, now...yaheah

That was rather over the top. He’s not a bad pick but I see no reason for such flowery prose either.

Interestingly, Amy Goodman at Democracy Now says he has a troubling history of not holding cops accountable. We shall see what happens. I doubt the right would be happy with anyone Biden’s handlers picked. Lol

Read above my first post on this page, Rose...with particular attention to the last link's comments.

I am not actually thinking there were a bunch of A****A at the capital r**t. I just think both groups should be treated equally. Go after all r****rs and l**ters nation wide.
