And you appear not to know we are also a democracy. Why else would all Americans except those legally disqualified (e.g. felons) have the right to v**e? While the republic might be a brake on the democracy, it isn't what drives the car; that would be the will of 'we the people'. 'The republic' may have elected Trump, we the people never did.
We the people corrected that mistake the second time around.
