Leave Ted Cruz alone. He was just being a good dad with a family trip to Cancun

It shouldn't have been a story...until he threw his daughters under the bus to blame once the public noticed and then lied about a return ticket he had for the same day, when he was schedule for a few days. For me, he did nothing wrong initially. Texas was really cold and miserable. Then he debased himself. That this opinion piece-- https://www.yahoo.com/news/leave-ted-cruz-alone-just-110000777.html --fails to recognize the ;petty and unnecessary wrong that pursued after discovery, and just excusing his actions, demonstrates the tragic state of ethics and morals in this country. Wh**ever happened to an honest "oops"?

Anything to make a good guy look bad.
There was nothing he could have done, it’s not in his power. All he did wrong was to apologize.

AOC showed him the kinds of things he could have done as well instead of going on a tropical vacation. Along with some others, she manned the phones and helped nail down a cool few million dollars in immediate aid for Texans.

Ted was later seen passing some of it out to crowds shaking hands and back slapping as he skipped self quarantine following his international travel during a world p******c to touch and breath on people and their vital supplies of water and food....

What a swell guy.

He isn't the first Hispanic to gather his family and flee across the Rio Grande in search of sustenance and a better life for his kids. Ted was just, momentarily, we hope, directionally and perhaps otherwise challenged.

What he never explained was why he needed to go down there at all--or is his wife not capable of buying tickets and checking into a hotel? I personally think he got off easy because he should have been totally skewered for such an audacious lie. I attribute this to the Trump effect where Republican politicians lie but with a nod and a wink the media let them slither away. And that my friends is the saddest thing of all...

Please include this on your list of 'saddest things of all':

Is that similar to the 'l*****t effect' where pelosi can get her hair done while on lockdown? Or Newsome can eat out while on lockdown? Or Cuomo blaming Jews praying together for spreading c***d? Or ignoring lockdown to protest?

With a huge dose of whataboutism!

And yet, it seems you leapfrogged effortlessly over the moral malfeasance and hypocrisy of the subject posted, Senator Cruz's winter vacay. What about TED!?!

It would seem more apropos to respond cogently with a relative opinion regarding the posted topic before branching onto vaguely related tangents regarding other issues and persons.

Having done that myself, I now turn to the camaraderie and friendship building portion of our joint endeavor on OPP to inquire as to your general well being in a warm and folksy tone.

Because that's important too, as we all well know, following a huge natural disaster affecting everyone.

Hope you've been able to stay warm. Nashville had temps in high 50's this week, despite 20's for the previous week. Yesterday's high was around 58°, with the low during the night before in the 40°range! Despite the warmth over the past couple days, my shaded back deck still has a good chunk of ice/snow!

It's a whole new ballgame with social media supplying a fishbowl like aspect to the actions of so many across the board. And with so many varied types of media and multitudes of sources, all kinds of biases and errata creep in.

Hope you are staying well and warm, PeterS.

rumitoid, It was a stupid thing to do. Go to sunny Mexico while the people of Texas were suffering?

Hahahaha... If a Dem senator had pulled a trick like that, Republicans would be howling for his expulsion from the Senate.

I 'leapfrogged' over nothing - simply pointed out that PeterS is notoriously hypocritical and needs to be reminded of it.

Ok. Forget Ted. I'd like to as well.

Be well.
