Manhattan DA Subpoenas Tax Agency in Criminal Probe Into Trump Organization: Report

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has subpoenaed a New York City property tax agency as part of a criminal probe into one of former President Donald Trump’s companies.
New York City Tax Commission was issued the subpoena, the agency’s president Frances Henn confirmed to Reuters on Friday.
The move suggests that Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. is examining the values Trump assigned to some commercial properties in tax filings and loan documents and looking for possible evidence of fraud.
Vance’s office and lawyers for the Trump Organization declined requests from Reuters to comment on the tax commission subpoena.
Citing grand jury secrecy rules, Vance’s office hasn’t publicly said what it is investigating, but some details have emerged in court filings that suggest prosecutors are seeking evidence of possible falsification of records as well as insurance and tax fraud.
Vance’s office sent subpoenas to local governments in the New York City suburbs last month, seeking information about a Westchester estate Trump owns there, and 158 acres of land he donated to a conservation land trust in order to qualify for an income tax deduction.
Earlier in the week, Vance’s office added Mark Pomerantz, a prominent former prosecutor, to bolster its team investigating possible fraud claims against Trump’s company, according to Danny Frost, a spokesman for the office, CNN reported.
Separately, New York Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, is conducting a civil probe into whether the Trump Organization improperly manipulated the value of Trump’s assets on annual financial statements in order to secure loans and obtain tax benefits.

The Trump Organization has described the probe as politically-motivated and earlier accused James of “continued harassment.”
“While we have tried to cooperate in good faith with the investigation at every turn, the NYAG’s continued harassment of the company as we approach the e******n (and filing of this motion on the first day of the Republican National Convention) once again confirms that this investigation is all about politics,” a Trump Organization lawyer told news outlets last year.
James said in August 2020 that she had been probing the allegations since 2019 after Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen testified before Congress. The investigation remained confidential for months.
With Trump now out of office, he no longer enjoys its protective cloak of immunity. A criminal conviction would be an unprecedented event in American history, with no ex-president ever even charged with a crime, much less convicted for one.

This harassment put up by CNN, explains as if the president was the one who violated, so they could extort more money from him until they have bankrupted him. NYC is bankrupt due to corruptions of the city officials under de Blasio who was reported to have stolen $2 billion given to his wife supposed to be for city investment but now could not be found what happened to the money.
City protocols on property valuations. Every city in this country is in charged of assessment and valuations of every city real estate properties, which is their basis for annual property tax assessments. Why is this NYC investigating the properties of president Trump? The valuations of private properties are done by the city each year. From that valuation, they assess property taxes payable to the city. That is the procedure.
In every addition or expansion on the property, there is a required permit. That will provide added information to the city for valuation.
This process is a plain harassment to the president. Most City Officials in NYC are b****s. I don't trust them, and I don't trust de Blasio who needs to be investigated of what happened to the $2 billion dollars he gave to his wife in the guise of investment for NYC . That money could not be accounted for.

Trump has played criminally loose with the laws for too long, it is about to catch up to him.
Misrepresenting property values too high to banks so as to qualify for a loan is fraud, under valuing property to the IRS so as to escape taxes is fraud...

How did you imagine that? That has nothing to do with the problem being discussed. Perhaps you did that, and now you are aware of it.
The problem brought up in this topic is about real estate property assessment and paying property taxes. The black DA in NYC hoping to extort more money from Trump brought up this case. But she did not think that Trump's property is being assessed by the NY City or NY County government where the property is recorded for tax valuation.
The owner of the property does assess the value of the property. Annually, he tax assessor of the City of NY, or NY County, does the assessment. Then what ever value they assessed, the owner pays for the tax. Are you so ignorant and dumb?
I own a number of real estate property investments in our County. Every year starting March, they send me the tax assessment of my properties. Every time you add or expand your property, you get a permit from the County, or City where your property is recorded. Then they examine valuation after additions or expansion and add value to the property. The assessment then goes up and property tax goes up.
This procedure is true to NYC and or Counties, all over the country. This black DA is harassing Trump so she could extort more money from him. NYC is bankrupt since it has been under democrat control for decades.
