I am 93 years old, served in the Army from 1945 until I was accused of and was convicted of disarming 5 German policemen. I was sentenced to 15 years, reduced to 5 years, served 2 years and on parole for 3 years. Since that time, I have had licenses for deer hunting in Minnesota and California many times. I have had shotguns, rifles and pistols and never accosted anyone. I applied for a gun permit, but was denied because of the Army issue. It has been 73 years of non-violent years and I can't defend myself?

Move to Texas.

We allow our ex convicts to own a firearm as long as it remains within his/her place of residence.

We 'do not' allow a felon to obtain a concealed weapons permit but you are allowed to keep weapons in your home for personal protection.

You can purchase a weapon from a collector to avoid the legalities of purchasing from a dealer.

You can also accept the gift of a legally purchased weapon, to keep in your home.

So if you have a friend or relative willing to legally purchase the weapon of your choice, it's perfectly legal to do so.

However, if you absolutely must carry a firearm, then it's also perfectly legal to do so as long as the weapon is cap and ball black powder.

Cap and ball revolvers are not considered by Texas law PC 46.01, to be legal handguns.

So it's perfectly legal for an ex con to carry a cap and ball revolver.

Sure you can! Do you think firearms are all there is? I don't have firearms in my house for personal reasons, but I don't begrudge those that do, in fact, my whole extended family are gun owners. What I have are several crossbows, hand held and shoulder fired, Katanas in every room along with assorted knives ( both throwing and hunting ), daggers and a hand axe it two, some flash bangs, smoke and tear gas grenades, some other stuff I don't want BATF to know I have and a small arsenal of homemade goodies that will ruin someone's day.

Unless someone sees me first and gets the drop on me, anyone on my property that presents a threat, won't be going home. Improvise!

Yeh....I’m pretty sure a 93 year old is going to use throwing knives, grenades and a crossbow.

What in the world do you think about?

Why not? If you can fire a shotgun, I'm sure you can handle a throwing knife or crossbow. Oh, wait, I get it now; your idea is to throw lots of lead down range.....................and hope you hit something.

I certainly will not be in a “hope” situation! And the lead “down range” could continue for upwards of two hours continuously.
