I am confused, where is our country going?

The founding fathers created a system based upon reason. Each principle has a logical reasoning behind it. They hoped that future generations would change what they could not establish. It started with the words of Thomas Jefferson, stating the following:

"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these t***hs to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and t***sient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. Thomas Jefferson did a few things in this introduction.
1. He established that the time had come, that the leaders of the colonies believed that they had to state reasons why they were parting from the King of England.
2. He then established what we all believe in. This is that all men are created equal. That Man's Creator endowed upon Man certain unalienable rights, and he defined these rights as Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
3. Then he showed that Governments were created to secure these rights. And that when any government abuses this security, that it is the right of the people to alter or abolish such Government.
4. He also established in what manner these Governments must change. He cautioned that Governments long established should not be changed for light and t***sient causes. But that the new Government should lay its foundation upon the principles of the old Government.
5. Then Thomas Jefferson establishes the principle of why people don't rise up against their Establishment. The reason is that "mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. "
6. Then Jefferson provides the principle of what happens when the abuse of the Establishment or Government occurs. He says, "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, their right, their duty, to throw off such Government and to provide new Guards for their future security."

These six principles are the foundation of our way of life. These are the principles that man gets behind when man is unhappy with the way their lives are going. So each person, ("Man"), takes from the earth, those powers they are no longer willing to give up, and uses that power against the evil that renders them to suffer.

We find that principle #4, establishes reasons why man wants to suffer. In this light, the suffering is self-inflicted because man has the power to throw off this evil. However, it may not be wise to do so and should not be done for light and t***sient reasons. None of the rights we exercise today, would have be established, had it not been for the likes of Samuel Adams, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison. These radical ideas of Government and the People, were only tempered by the wisest man of the Founding father's Ben Franklin. But these men were only part of the 77 courageous men that signed the Declaration that Jefferson wrote, and also established for us and the world a new government, based upon the principles of the old, but updated to the times. Thus, the Constitution of the United States was born and the Bill of Rights were established.

Because of their movement, they freed a nation from servitude to a King and a country that abused their power over these North American S***es. Jefferson warned that the s***ery that King George had on the colonists would affect his colleagues in the North and South, whom they too held s***es.

Soon an anti s***ery movement began with the puritan-quakers. Therefore, it would be a Republican President to declare that the s***es of this union are now free. And thus he added to the constitution the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. These amendments would inspire a young preacher man from Alabama. Who wrote: "Just as the prophets of the eighth century B.C. left their villages and carried their "thus saith the Lord" far beyond the boundaries of their home towns, and just as the Apostle Paul left his village of Tarsus and carried the gospel of Jesus Christ to the far corners of the Greco Roman world, so am I compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my own home town. Like Paul, I must constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid......"

"....In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps: collection of the facts to determine whether injustices exist; negotiation; self purification; and direct action. We have gone through all these steps in Birmingham. There can be no gainsaying the fact that racial injustice engulfs this community. Birmingham is probably the most thoroughly segregated city in the United States. Its ugly record of brutality is widely known. Negroes have experienced grossly unjust treatment in the courts. There have been more unsolved bombings of Negro homes and churches in Birmingham than in any other city in the nation. These are the hard, brutal facts of the case. On the basis of these conditions, Negro leaders sought to negotiate with the city fathers. But the latter consistently refused to engage in good faith negotiation...."

"...We know through painful experience that freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed. Frankly, I have yet to engage in a direct action campaign that was "well timed" in the view of those who have not suffered unduly from the disease of segregation. For years now I have heard the word "Wait!" It rings in the ear of every Negro with piercing familiarity. This "Wait" has almost always meant "Never." We must come to see, with one of our distinguished jurists, that "justice too long delayed is justice denied...."


"...Now, what is the difference between the two? How does one determine whether a law is just or unjust? A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. To put it in the terms of St. Thomas Aquinas: An unjust law is a human law that is not rooted in eternal law and natural law. Any law that uplifts human personality is just. Any law that degrades human personality is unjust. All segregation statutes are unjust because segregation distorts the soul and damages the personality. It gives the segregator a false sense of superiority and the segregated a false sense of inferiority. Segregation, to use the terminology of the Jewish philosopher Martin Buber, substitutes an "I it" relationship for an "I thou" relationship and ends up relegating persons to the status of things. Hence segregation is not only politically, economically and sociologically unsound, it is morally wrong and sinful. Paul Tillich has said that sin is separation. Is not segregation an existential expression of man's tragic separation, his awful estrangement, his terrible sinfulness? Thus it is that I can urge men to obey the 1954 decision of the Supreme Court, for it is morally right; and I can urge them to disobey segregation ordinances, for they are morally wrong...."

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., goes on and on about his fight to get Civil Rights approved for all Americans. But notice that Dr. King is against the Democrats of today? For if the Democrats of today, would just heed the words of Dr. King, then Trump supporters would not have come to be.

And here is where I'm confused. I listened to the House Managers and the former president's lawyers and they did not listen to each other. Instead each side talked over the other side. For the House managers contend that the president's lawyers didn't answer their question. But they did, however the House managers refused to answer the questions from the president's lawyers and dismissed the president's lawyers fears, as "That would not happen" or "That's been debunked" or "we refuse to accept the defense's argument".

The last statement, "We refuse to accept the defense argument" is what is bothering me. I begun this post showing the reason that t***sformed a candid world. Now it seems, the candidness of this world has t***sformed us. Or at the very least the modern democrat party.

Let's go back in time 40 years or so. Regan was president, and the conservatives were enforcing the rating system of our writings, music, and movies. The Christian coalition created a rating system that includes, G-General Audience, PG- Parental Guidance, PG13- Children under the age of 13 are prohibited from seeing the movie, but those over 13 must be accompanied by an adult. R- Restricted to those over 18, Then X, XX, XXX.

Now the conservatives were very strong and enforced in this country these decency laws. In fact they would not permit any subject matter that would go against the bible. Even the catholic church blacklisted movies, writings, and music. Back in those days I fought against the conservatives because I felt they went too far. Well today, the shoe is on the other foot, for the fight and the principle of the fight still stands. Yet now the adversary is the liberals, and not just any liberal, but the progressive liberals.

John Kennedy was a staunch liberal. However, today he would be considered a moderate conservative. Therefore I believe the democrat party has been taken over by the progressives, and the Republicans have both conservatives and liberals. In the true sense of the word.

Let's define liberal- "Broad interpretation of the constitution", conservative-"Strict interpretation of the Constitution", progressive- "Any interpretation that makes me money and if you disagree with it you are xist"

This is why I am confused, how did we fall so far off the liberal-conservative cliff? and Donald Trump is not the correct answer because the progressives are afraid of him.

A lot of very interesting points to consider in that piece. Well put together.

The black hats are trying to destroy us and the white hats are trying to save us. The same as always. I think we're winning. But many disagree. It helps not to be afraid and pray.

You are definitely right that Trump is standing in the way of the far left and that is why he is necessary right now and great for America. He was America's last chance. What's sad is that a lot of Americans don't realize it. They have been so brain washed by those on the far left both by the media and their teachers. It started with the teachers and newscasters in ABC, CBS and NBC as well as NPR. In some ways the 'greatest generation' abdicated their role as educators of the next generation and left it to the teachers who were liberal. The liberal teachers were prevalent in the high schools, junior colleges and universities. It became a situation where if you said anything that was conservative you would be put down and your grade would suffer for it. (I know because it happened to me in high school and my first semester in Cal State University Long Beach)

It also started in 1973 in the Supreme Court with the Roe v Wade which made a******n legal.

It also started when God was taken out of schools.

The US has been going down the path of destruction ever since the c*******ts took over the Soviet Union and China and decided that the US couldn't exist as a capitalist society and there were those in this country that agreed with them.

It started when the Muslims decided that they also wanted to control the world and put their four point plan into effect.

It started when Americans decided that having the government take care of you was more important that taking care of yourself. It started with FDR and his socialist policies.

It started when Americans decided that it wasn't important being Americans and standing up for what America stood for.

It started with e******ns of liberal and the takeover of states by democrats and others.
It ended with the s****n e******n of Trump by biden's supporters and others.

Your point #2 is in error. That is to say that the sentiment is commendable but the practical reality is not so. People are not created equal nor does anyone actually accept that as fact, not even the Founders themselves. In their view, only landholders merited a v**e and some people, black and white, were property, not citizens and Indians were even less than that because they had no recognized right even to their own lands and cultures.

Because no one recognizes an inherent e******y in people, and because we, like all social animals, must compete within our ranks for that which sustains us, there is an overarching drive to achieve some level of security. That security can be defined for each of us to be that position in society where those below us recognize our station and those above us accept us in that station. Even so, those above us will do what they can to hinder any further advancement up the ranks and those below us will do what they can to displace us. The greatest t***sgression viewed from above is to assert yourself into their ranks. True security is an illusion because of competition.

The Founders created a dream that cannot be sustained indefinitely. They knew that but thought it worthwhile to make the attempt. Franklin said we had a Republic, "if we can keep it". Jefferson said in his old age that he found it remarkable that the government still continued.

Based on the predictable results of an inbuilt competitive drive and the expectations of the Founders, what is happening now should not be surprising. It is the natural evolution of the life cycle of all social animals.

We are at the same point where we found ourselves facing the destiny of our nation in the 1850s. We need a Lincoln to drive the nation to reassert our national identity. We have to decide exactly how sincere we are about wanting to retain the America that the Founders dreamed up... and then we must act to make it a reality, wh**ever action that requires exactly as those who imagine a right to rule us are now attempting.

To respond directly to your final thought; we haven't fallen off any cliff yet. We have not left the expected trajectory of our evolution as a nation but we have failed to heed the warnings of our own history. Contrary to your assertion that Donald Trump is the wrong man, he is exactly the right man if our goal is to retain our republic based on law rather than on the assertion of the strength of warlords and dictators. Any other and we are going to continue on the path on which those regarding themselves as special and deserving of rule are trying to take us. They have been telling us for decades that we really don't know what is best for us and it is their destiny to guide us.

This is a very complex topic and requires a lot of varied background to really master. I am not sure I have sufficient ability to explain it in an understandable fashion... or even that I have an adequate understanding of it. It is not strictly an animal thing but we have been throwing away all of the social safeguards that make our society human.

Thomas Jefferson did a few things in this introduction.
1. He established that the time had come, that the leaders of the colonies believed that they had to state reasons why they were parting from the King of England.
2. He then established what we all believe in. This is that all men are created equal. That Man's Creator endowed upon Man certain unalienable rights, and he defined these rights as Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
3. Then he showed that Governments were created to secure these rights. And that when any government abuses this security, that it is the right of the people to alter or abolish such Government.
4. He also established in what manner these Governments must change. He cautioned that Governments long established should not be changed for light and t***sient causes. But that the new Government should lay its foundation upon the principles of the old Government.
5. Then Thomas Jefferson establishes the principle of why people don't rise up against their Establishment. The reason is that "mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. "
6. Then Jefferson provides the principle of what happens when the abuse of the Establishment or Government occurs. He says, "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, their right, their duty, to throw off such Government and to provide new Guards for their future security."

These six principles are the foundation of our way of life. These are the principles that man gets behind when man is unhappy with the way their lives are going. So each person, ("Man"), takes from the earth, those powers they are no longer willing to give up, and uses that power against the evil that renders them to suffer.

We find that principle #4, establishes reasons why man wants to suffer. In this light, the suffering is self-inflicted because man has the power to throw off this evil. However, it may not be wise to do so and should not be done for light and t***sient reasons. None of the rights we exercise today, would have be established, had it not been for the likes of Samuel Adams, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison. These radical ideas of Government and the People, were only tempered by the wisest man of the Founding father's Ben Franklin. But these men were only part of the 77 courageous men that signed the Declaration that Jefferson wrote, and also established for us and the world a new government, based upon the principles of the old, but updated to the times. Thus, the Constitution of the United States was born and the Bill of Rights were established.

Because of their movement, they freed a nation from servitude to a King and a country that abused their power over these North American S***es. Jefferson warned that the s***ery that King George had on the colonists would affect his colleagues in the North and South, whom they too held s***es.

Soon an anti s***ery movement began with the puritan-quakers. Therefore, it would be a Republican President to declare that the s***es of this union are now free. And thus he added to the constitution the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. These amendments would inspire a young preacher man from Alabama. Who wrote: "Just as the prophets of the eighth century B.C. left their villages and carried their "thus saith the Lord" far beyond the boundaries of their home towns, and just as the Apostle Paul left his village of Tarsus and carried the gospel of Jesus Christ to the far corners of the Greco Roman world, so am I compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my own home town. Like Paul, I must constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid......"

"....In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps: collection of the facts to determine whether injustices exist; negotiation; self purification; and direct action. We have gone through all these steps in Birmingham. There can be no gainsaying the fact that racial injustice engulfs this community. "...Now, what is the difference between the two? How does one determine whether a law is just or unjust? A just law is a man made code that squares with the moral law or the law of God. An unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with the moral law. To put it in the terms of St. Thomas Aquinas: An unjust law is a human law that is not rooted in eternal law and natural law. Any law that uplifts human personality is just. Any law that degrades human personality is unjust. All segregation statutes are unjust because segregation distorts the soul and damages the personality. A law is unjust if it is inflicted on a minority that, as a result of being denied the right to v**e, had no part in enacting or devising the law. Who can say that the legislature of Alabama which set up that state's segregation laws was democratically elected? Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., goes on and on about his fight to get Civil Rights approved for all Americans. But notice that Dr. King is against the Democrats of today? For if the Democrats of today, would just heed the words of Dr. King, then Trump supporters would not have come to be.

And here is where I'm confused. I listened to the House Managers and the former president's lawyers and they did not listen to each other. Instead each side talked over the other side. For the House managers contend that the president's lawyers didn't answer their question. But they did, however the House managers refused to answer the questions from the president's lawyers and dismissed the president's lawyers fears, as "That would not happen" or "That's been debunked" or "we refuse to accept the defense's argument".

The last statement, "We refuse to accept the defense argument" is what is bothering me. I begun this post showing the reason that t***sformed a candid world. Now it seems, the candidness of this world has t***sformed us. Or at the very least the modern democrat party.

Let's go back in time 40 years or so. Regan was president, and the conservatives were enforcing the rating system of our writings, music, and movies. The Christian coalition created a rating system that includes, G-General Audience, PG- Parental Guidance, PG13- Children under the age of 13 are prohibited from seeing the movie, but those over 13 must be accompanied by an adult. R- Restricted to those over 18, Then X, XX, XXX.

Now the conservatives were very strong and enforced in this country these decency laws. In fact they would not permit any subject matter that would go against the bible. Even the catholic church blacklisted movies, writings, and music. Back in those days I fought against the conservatives because I felt they went too far. Well today, the shoe is on the other foot, for the fight and the principle of the fight still stands. Yet now the adversary is the liberals, and not just any liberal, but the progressive liberals.

John Kennedy was a staunch liberal. However, today he would be considered a moderate conservative. Therefore I believe the democrat party has been taken over by the progressives, and the Republicans have both conservatives and liberals. In the true sense of the word.

Let's define liberal- "Broad interpretation of the constitution", conservative-"Strict interpretation of the Constitution", progressive- "Any interpretation that makes me money and if you disagree with it you are xist"

From my perspective, there are many powerful forces at work, the purpose of which is to divide and separate humanity - racially, politically, economically, religiously. The goal is to keep humanity separated and fighting each other.

Do you recall Paul Harvey's essay, "If I were the Devil"?

Here is what he said:

Stoked by the level of incompetence recognizing such in motion and more so actually seeing how many, “by choice” prefer it over the morality and ethics that formed this great Country!!!

What is glaringly obvious is the fight for freedom is upon us and those from within whom support it will ultimately prevail...Been going on since the inception of this miraculous country and will remain such long after we are all gone!!
