Trump had 89 million followers on Twitter. Apparently they don't care if they lose those people....and if Trump were to sponsor a platform (such as Parler, which he already is doing) those people will go there. Apple is trying to pressure Parler to suppress freedom of speech, but that is what their main mission statement is all about. They won't give in...and they are getting too big to be squelched. So is Newsmax....they beat FOX in ratings this year - the first time in decades that FOX has not been in the #1 spot, and they were uprooted by Newsmax.
Before Trump's account was cancelled, he posted a long tweet about it. He said he knew they were going to ban his account and that he was thinking about starting his own media source.
