Wasteful spending by Cook County, Illinois

As usual our politicians don't get it or don't care. Our property taxes are going up and so are other taxes. Remember the soda pop tax.

We've seen this explained to our politicians countless times. But you can't beat commonsense into a block of wood. So I'll explain it one more time for the citizens to remember the next time they get a v**e.

Illinois is going down a toilet. Good people are leaving in greater and greater quantities, and so are businesses and they are taking good jobs with them. The main reason is Illinois debt and taxes. We are in such debt that we need to raise taxes. But the real reason we are in debt is not enough taxes but to much spending. And so, what does the County board do, they up the useless spending, to curry favor with a favorite v****g block. B****s. They are making Juneteenth a Cook County paid holiday, and Lightfoot wants to do the same for the city and Pritzker for the State. Utter nonsense. Raising our taxes to give it to public employees to not work while raising our taxes and crying poor.. At just $15/hour, that would be a give away of $120/employee, plus overtime for those that have to work anyway. That is 14 paid holidays/year. Think about it at the next e******n.

All one has to do to put a handle on the Illinois problem is to see who runs Chicago. That's what Democrats do. Same results in New York, Newark, L.A., San Fran, Seattle and on and on. When will they wake up and put the blame where it belongs - on themselves.

I moved out of Chi~town 4 years ago because of taxes, gang wars and traffic 90/94 was a nightmare.. Lived in cook county where the taxes were twice that of the other counties. Best Decision I ever made!!!

Given the criminality of the government politicians there and they wish to consider going elsewhere. My heart feels for you and a couple others that post in here that I also live in Chicago or Illinois I should say.

Bless you and what you live with there I just couldn’t do it anymore.

The problem is they will not wake up there. The politicians are the most crooked there are and have gotten away with it for many years. Rahm finished it for me!!Scum of the earth he really didn’t even have regency beer winds up the mayor after daily mysteriously stepped down. It is true his wife was sick. It was also true that she’s been sick for sometime and the sudden resignation has always been a question.

Oh, I agree totally. But the Republicans in Illinois haven't been perfect. And that v**e was unanimous and there is at least one, maybe two Republicans on that board. But new spending for no work, while increasing taxes, is sort of an ultimate insult.

Cheers

When I recently had to move, 18 months ago, new landlord and 25% increase, was a good chance to leave. But at 80 now, and single, it is hard to start over in a new state. My core family is still mostly here, not that we see each other that much. But I don't have a car and am dependent on our vast, thought inefficient, public t***sit. Fully retired, I have a very active social life, within the social life I love. Although that would be available in most medium to all large cities, few have the quantity that I find in Chicago to fill my life. So I stay. We all have our reasons. I hope you found fulfillment in your move.

Cheers and a Merry Christmas

Republicans are not immune from doing stupid things. It seems that statewide, Republicans seem to run downstate and Democrats, Cook, DuPage and Lake. I have lots of in-laws in the western suburbs but haven't been back for several years. There are so many temptations for graft everywhere, not just Chicago. My daughter moved out 6 years ago and moved to Missouri. She couldn't be happier. After I lost my first wife 20 years ago, I married a gal who was born and raised in Cicero to a God fearing family. I moved her to Indiana and 3 yrs ago we moved to Michigan. What a difference. Anyway, it's a mess today wherever you look. Merry Christmas!

Thanks. I'll keep fighting this nonsense wherever I see it. Merry Christmas to you too.

The reason the democrats don’t worry about us downstaters in Illinois is that there are more people in the Chicago area than the rest of the state combined. By county, Illinois is over 90% red. By population, it always goes blue. We are the bar by which corruption is measured. I am a state employee and I seriously doubt if I will ever see a cent of a retirement because wh**ever happy ass governor we have then will have pissed it away on some i***tic project as usual. Illinois is a beautiful state with a lot to offer. We have just had an absolute lack of anything resembling leadership for decades

IDK for sure but rahm & his brother are worming their way back to DC. BTW I flew to O'Hare many times to catch the Chi-town auto show, good show, good memories. Gone but not forgotten.
