What is stronger than us? What we are able to comprehend, rely on, is often a deception. Truth demands more.
Fear, hate, love, awe and so forth are all stronger than us. We are not really in control. But we will falsely comprehend the causes of those emotions every time. There is no direct cause. Our entire history is involved. What we comprehend as truth and mush into a belief burrito is fine. Sitting on a couch of spiritual comfortability there is a certain luxury of feeling right. Hard to give up that seat. As it was said in the play "Da", "My father sat on brambles all of his life and didn't get up for fear of losing his seat." That seat is in a Venus Fly Trap.
There is no rest for the Christian, no final irrefutable truth. Such pursuit is the height of folly but oh so seductive. To be right, to know all the answers with appropriate Scripture, and to proffer Articles of Faith. "Be a true Christian and believe this or that as we told you." Despite Bible evidence that appears to say otherwise, Christianity has really nothing to do with belief; that is its weakness and betrayal of what Christ taught us.

Christianity has no weakness except to those who don't believe.

We disagree.
Because you don't truly believe. You need to examine yourself to see where you are.

Try to fathom this: Christians are not under the jurisdiction of any biblical legal code which tells them what to do in any area of life. There are no Christian ethics, standards, or values to hold and follow; there is only Christ, in whom we are "to live and move and have our being." (Acts 17:28)

That verse doesn't mean disregard what the bible tells us. And yes, we are indeed given guidelines. If you disregard what you don't like you can't know Christ. Instead of turning to the secular and the mystical you need to turn to good teachers and there are plenty of them available.
Christianity is simple and not mystical. Living it is hard.

Proverbs 30:5-6
5 “Every word of God is flawless;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
6 Do not add to his words,
or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.
If a Christian can find no rest, then they have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior........He is Truth!
