God, it blows me away how limited the thinking of a conservative is. Everything with you cons is either-or. This is how the giant brain in the sky describes it: The major difference between a democracy and a republic is that a republic is a form of government whereas democracy is an ideology that helps shape how a government is run. Put another way: a republic is the system of government that allows a country to be democratic!

Understand JW? No, I didn't think you would, even though, I think that is as good a definition as you are likely to ever find...

Even the title makes sure to state it is comparing a Republic to a pure democracy....

Can think of any nations that are pure democracies...

Or any that have constitutions that can be changed by public whim...

Lots of different forms of democracies out there....

You are a fine one to be explaining this to a patriot.

We are a Constitutional Republic who's defining governing practices are based on democratic principles, hence " we, the people ". The people's voices are heard through it's legislative bodies and it's elected representatives. Is it perfect? Nope, since "we, the people" have largely abrogated our responsibilities and surrendered our power to partisan agendas.

I would very much prefer to continue the effort to create a more perfect union, rather then scrap our system altogether. To my mind, the very first step is to abandoned the artificial and patently un-Constitutional two party system, from local, State and Federal governments, then REQUIRING citizens to participate in their own government.

What destruction? No fires, no r**ts, no l**ting, & no one is knocking old people down, or blinding cops w/lasers.

Just say you don't like Trump, Conservatives, & be done with it. Just throwing lies out makes no sense.

Do we have some pseudo democratic principles? Of course we do. Does putting a Chevy emblem on a Ford make it a Chevy. Of course not. The distinctions between a democracy and a republic are fundamental and extreme.

The only democracy IS a pure democracy. Everything else may utilize some democratic principles but they do not run like a democracy.

The "destruction" is the revelation of the "skull and bones" cabal that has been pulling the strings of power ever since the advent of the private banking cartel in 1914. Our "foreign wars" have been concocted to protect their "dollar" as the "reserve currency of the world." Their problem is with a businessman like our president whose policies have "neutralized their influence" and "power to make war." Their "Manhatten propaganda machine" is revved up to persuade the ignorant to go along with their d******eness. Our democratic-republic has been run by this international banking cartel which has made us a dependent (serf) to their monetary whims. Making America great again means "making America free from the international banking cartel that controls our "e******ns and our dollar." You need to read those books by American scholars who "follow the money." Then you will see that we are fighting to free ourselves so that we can resume the freedom we had after the American Revolution.

A prayer, from your lips to all the people who have been blinded by lies and promises never meant to be kept, but which have lulled them into complete submission and allowing their God given and Constitutionally guaranteed rights to be taken away.

Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia;

Of these three bodies, the assembly and the courts were the true sites of power – although courts, unlike the assembly, were never simply called the demos ('the people'), as they were manned by just those citizens over thirty. Crucially, citizens v****g in both were not subject to review and prosecution, as were council members and all other officeholders.

That was ancient Greece. Seems like there hasn't been much change to me.
Her are dictionary definitions of a democracy and a republic.

A democracy is a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
"capitalism and democracy are ascendant in the third world"

A republic is a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch.

a group with a certain e******y between its members.

Democrats abide by neither.
