My goodness, she may as well said " ma'am I know your old, and unable to defend yourself against two criminals, but will you at least be kind enough to surrender to them until someone can come help you"

I would not have been as nice as she was to warn them she had a gun. They will now go rob someone else. Id have empty all 5 shoots from that Tauruis 38 and not shed a tear.
Few even know the police aren't even required to come to your house when you call them any longer.
Warren v. District of Columbia[1] (444 A.2d. 1, D.C. Ct. of Ap. 1981) is an oft-quoted[2] District of Columbia Court of Appeals case that held that the police did not owe a specific duty to provide police services to the plaintiffs based on the public duty doctrine.

We had a situation out here where a small local police dept used this defense for not showing up and the town v**ed to close the 3 man dept stating "if you aren't required to come when we call we have no use for you"

That dispatcher should be fired, what kind of insane advice was that to give someone who is in a possible life or death situation? Good for you grandma!!!

The other side of this, me having been a cop, is the danger of having a weapon when the cops arrive. That is probably what the dispatcher was trained to look out for. Just as fox is trained to generate controversy.

Isnt that what the dispatcher keeps them on the phone for is to let the person know when the police are there?

Two weeks ago that happened to me. I awoke to find a burgler in my house, when I confronted him he pulled a gun, so I shot him. He wasn't dead but he was down on the floor, there is no way I was putting that gun away Until the cops came!!!

If you aren't pulling my leg Im sure glad you are ok. That's awful.
That's one dumb crook if you have your f**g waving. All the ex Marines in this small community have their f**gs up.

It could have been worse - instead of the 911 operator, she may have reached Biden who'd advise her to go to her deck and fire the gun in the air. Scary to have such a genius in such high public office for so long

Or in this lets see what the taxpayers are up to country, the operator could have said hold on ma'am let me pull your home up. Okay, I see your in the living room in your jammies, can you please walk east toward the bathroom. They are currently in your kitchen. Lock the door and I will watch you until someone arrives..

No ma'm, I'm surely not pulling your leg, it happened. My dog deserves the kudos, she jumped up on my bed and straddled me and kept nosing me until I roused.
