One should never tell a kid you cant but tell them to give it their best if it doesn't work try something else. I always told my sons is if your heart desire is to be a ditch digger then be the very best ditch digger. So when people drive by they'll say damn that's a Reynolds ditch use to make them laugh but they have never been afraid learn a new trade or to try something different and have always given it their best.

My daughter wanted to be a singer when she was little. A music teacher told her she didn't make a chorus group because her voice was too distinctive. I told if she wanted to sing to keep with it just because you have a distinctive voice didn't mean she couldn't sing, after all Dolly Parton has a very distinctive voice and has had a very successful (and long) singing career. I recommended that she join the church choir to get experience singing in public. After all, you won't find a more friendly audience.

Make sure you get her a voice coach. Very important, if she wants to sing professionally.

She changed her mind, at least for now. She's happy being a mommy to two beautiful little girls. Besides where she lives now besides having a distinctive voice, the locals think she has an accent. My 9 year old granddaughter disagrees, she thinks everyone else in Australia has an accent.
