I did not write this, but it is , I believe, repesentative of more and more people every day.

Today's news a 2 star general k**led by an Afghani after the general landed in a helicopter to inspect a large building that American taxpayers paid off our backs. Why the hell should we be nation building in a country that we are leaving behind. Those Neanderthals blew up statues a thousand years old. What makes our leaders thing the buildings we are leaving behind will stand for a month after we leave. What makes the so called leaders we have in DC believe in giving our tax dollars to the enemies of America. We are 17 trillion dollars in debt, yet building a country up in Afghanistan only to watch it all be destroyed after we cut and run at the end of the year.

The military is giving notices to majors now serving in Afghanistan that their services will no longer be needed when they return to America and will be released from the military! The present day guys are now learning what we Vietnam veterans felt when we were betrayed and abandoned by spineless politicians and ungrateful countrymen!

I'd sooner serve time in prison, as our Marine is doing forgotten in a Mexican jail, than to serve this ungrateful nation one day in uniform under present conditions.

We are watching the world defend Hamas, a terrorist organization, against Israel just as the French and Germans did prior to WWII. Are we headed down the same path that led us to WWII.

I've lived through WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan during my lifetime and am s**k of stupidity rearing its head over and over again. I am fed up and tired of the crap that simply keeps repeating itself year after year. Is there no chance of someone leading humans out of their self destructing ways? I am at the point of not wanting to go through it all over again.

I don't really know what to say. On one hand I agree mostly with your post. On the other, we can't just give up.
This country and its people are worth the sacrifice, our gov't, not so much. We need to fix the problems and eliminate the negative forces influencing this Nation.

================================

Thus and most of the other problems we are experiencing now were causewd by meddling in the internal affairs of foreign countries and by trying to buy with Americans' tax dollars friendship with foreign countries.
I don't advocate giving up. I advocate wising up. I advocate taking a big dose of MYOB.

I think you are right. the US has (for example) appointed vicious dictators in countries from Argentina to Malaysia. Not to mention Iraq (Saddam H) and Iran (the Shah) They always claimed to was to fight C*******m, but mostly it was just to have puppets who would let them steal the oil, rubber, cooper or wahtever. Then they had to spend money to prop up the puppets. Most people don't know this, but long before September 11, al-Queada published their list of grievances with the US. (Just as the Founders published their list of grievances with the King of England, hoping to justify their revolution) First on the list was that the US appointed cruel dictators like Mubarak and the Shah, and propped up the Saudi royalty.
I have often wondered how the world would look today if the US politicians had been better neighbors to the rest of the world. we have LOTS of teachers, engineers , scientists, etc who are happy to lent a hand in other countries. Peace Corps, etc. It costs almost nothing and is good publicity for the US. But all this military/political meddling? Not so good.
