Comedy is the same as tragedy... if we have the eyes to see.

I lost my parents, an older brother and younger sister all to a slow cruel death from Cancer. .Nothing funny there. My mother was the first to go and I was her primary care giver after getting out of the Service. She never directly asked me to help end her pain—agony is the better word—but she indicated a “little more” morphine would be good. At that time, I was too Catholic to consider it. I am still confused and hurt that I did nothing.

But the Comedy is not in laughter at their death but the endless rift of tragedy: we act surprised and hurt such things can happen. Sotto voce snickers at our response to life. What did you expect? Utopia? That's a great joke.

I bought a new pair of glasses. They helped me to see life differently. We are all doomed, by wh**ever form that may take. No matter how meaningful, kind, funny, decent, obedient, good looking, famous or wh**ever, Death will eventually take us all. Haha. That there is any drama to our tragedies is funny, in a way: what else might we expect? Taking life as is, we are left with few options, but good ones. Joyously live or be neighborly.

I’m sorry to hear that, mi amigo. Sobering and thoughtful words, there. I empathize, as I lost my grandmother to cancer, my dad is in the midst of his third round and my next older brother’s prostate cancer metastasized and is in his left femur and left shoulder. I’m struggling with it all myself. Regardless of our leanings, we are all men and women trying to make our way as best we can, until we can’t. We may disagree or agree about things on here, but I wish you the best possible outcomes in your pursuit of happiness. Thank you for posting this.

The good thing about cancer, if there was a good thing is that you sometimes get to say your goodbyes before they die! Bother my parents and brother died quickly , and I never got to say goodbye! Make sure you always let the people u love know how much you love them! Live each day as though it were your last! Forgive and love while you can!
