Monday was a local place that serves great burgers and melts. All the staff wore masks and they would not seat you without coming in with a mask, though you could take it off as soon as you sat, like everyone else did. It is a small dining area with eight tables; every other table had diners. Proper or paranoid sitting. Loved the sense of normalcy, really delighted a lot more in my fully-loaded burger than I thought possible. Why is bacon in restaurants so much better than I make?

On Wednesday, went to Applebee's with 2 veteran friends. Great Free entree menu. Last year it was steak and shrimp but I chose the pasta dish that day. Again that profound sense of naturalness, of just doing life without a sword h*****g by a loose thread over my head. After just a brief time of chit-chat, all thought of a p******c was gone. We were back in the U.S. of A. And the place was crowded, which was like a syringe of adrenaline for the good old days. Bill had to remind me to take my mask resting on the table; I almost had no clue why.
