I know I am wasting my time, but try, TRY to understand. Everyone is for renewable energy. As soon as it is developed enough to work, we will t***sition to it. For now, it is impractical and too expensive for broad use. Research the science. You can not mandate technological breakthroughs with legislation. All you can do is encourage it through funding, which America is doing. As for high speed trains, how is California's project going?

Most developed countries with high speed trains are not the size of the United States. High speed trains are better at moving people rapidly for three or four hundred miles. Greater distances are for airplanes. America is 3,000 miles from coast to coast. Airplanes beat high speed trains. Let us see how pelosi would like to travel by high speed train. You don't understand how much oil runs about everything in the world.
You even need oil for the windmills.
Oil is used for just about every industry and it will shut down the country if there is no oil and gas usage.
Women won't even be able to wear lipstick.
It is an oil based product.
So is Vaseline.

I'm sure all the aircraft manufacturers and pilots would be interested in hearing how you would get an aircraft into the air with batteries or solar power or wind turbines or nuclear reactors.

Millions of people depend on this for their livelihood. This includes shops, restaurants, supermarkets, hardware stores, sporting goods stores, gas stations, libraries, schools, movie theaters, churches, and so on.

The US energy demands far outstrip the amount of energy to be gained by only renewable sources. In addition, manufacture of the batteries required and other equipment to capture and store the energy produced uses more non-renewable energy than can reasonably be recovered from renewables. There is a limit to the capacity for storage and practical use of wind and solar. If you want rolling black outs, heat turned odd in cold climates in the winter, problems with electric cars getting enough energy to recharge, and manufacturing unable to get the energy to continue with its production, then absolutely, get rid of non-renewable energy ASAP.

However, we still need to look at other possibilities for renewable energy-landfill waste, for one. Right now, we need to continue to use some coal and gas for energy-as we continue to look for alternatives-that is, safe alternatives, which may be difficult to find. To simply shut down non renewable sources is ill advised and foolish-and a politician's promise that he cannot and will not keep. He flies on airplanes but does not want you to? He lives in a mansion but requires that you need to live in a smaller home? He is driven around in limos and gas guzzlers, but he wants you to plug your small slow vehicle into a socket every evening?

Remember that as VP, he used AF 2 many weekends to go from Washington DC to Wilmington DE, a most inefficient waste of TP dollars-that plane had to be kept ready for take off while he was home. He would at times, take the train, but he would hold it up so that the schedule was not kept, with no regard for the other passengers who perhaps had appointments to keep-if he were really concerned about pollution, he would be talking to his Chinese buddies about reducing their carbon footprint. India is a big contributor to the "c*****e c****e" caused by air pollution as well. The US, I think, has probably reduced its contribution to pollution if not the most of any nation, then certainly up there in the top 5! It does no good for the US to be the only ones in the world to go to renewable energy only, when others continue to pollute.
