I still don't understand why people like you can't believe that people who believe differently than you do might be just as intelligent and just as well informed as you are. If you gave us a little credit and tried to understand why we think the way we do, you might have a better chance of achieving some of your political goals. I just came across an interesting article. Don't ignore it because you don't like it's title, try to read it with an open mind and see if it doesn't explain why so many people in this country seem "stupid" to you. Here's a sample of the article, with a link to the whole thing below:

"But again and again, Republicans seem shocked to find out that Americans aren't on the same page with them. They're flummoxed when the public doesn't rise up in outrage to demand more answers on B******i. They're befuddled when shutting down the government turns into a political disaster. They're gobsmacked when the e*****rate doesn't reject Barack Obama for saying "you didn't build that," and even more amazed when he gets reelected. And in between, they can't come up with any strategy to accomplish their goals, whether in policy or e******ns. Again and again, they think the American public is going to see things their way, and when the public doesn't, they never seem to learn anything from it."

I'm a conservative Republican and I did read the article. I thought it made a lot of sense, but it certainly didn't change the way I feel about anything.

Well, if you check around you will see that the e*****rate is taking notice that there leader is in fact a i***t. The sad part is it takes them 6 years to do it. If we gave a IQ test before we hand out a v**ers card this country would be in a lot better shape. Yeah I know you will flip over that idea, but it's a fact.

And at that time we will have a Conservative President and it will be all his fault... Yes I can see you.

The last thing we want is an IQ test... too many eggheads in ivory towers would be able to pass the test... but politics would get even more surreal. Lets try a common sense test... with at least a basic knowledge of our government and our political system.

Conservatives are baffled about the lack of reaction in the mass population but it comes down to ignorance and apathy of that public. Of course there isn't a general uproar of B******i... probably because they see no problem with the guy who played Ghandi in the movie. How many "interviews" with the man on the street shows that great numbers have no idea who even the VP is? Or who is running for which party? The general masses may not be "stupid" per se, but their insights into what is going on around them would t***slate into a stupid rating on the topic.

What is sad is that people v**e on people and topics they couldn't discuss at a 2nd grade level. Anyone else note the recent story of the woman, who in 2008, raved on TV how Obama was going to make her house payments, pay for her gas, etc. She actually wasn't some free loading welfare recipient after all... she is actually an employed nurse (which takes a few gray cells to accomplish)... but was obviously quite short of political common sense.

Look at the beauty's the republicans have run against him, McCain is a decent man but when he picked a half baked nut job like Palin as his running mate he was done. Obama is not the greatest guy in the world but he beats the hell out of the buffoons nuts and crooks the republicans run. The teabagger element in the republican party forces them to take seriously people like Santorum and Bachman who have an ice cubes chance in hell of being elected.

Palin has tens times the Brains of McCain. You know the more you bash the Tea Party the stronger it gets. But I guess you don.t have the common sense to figure that out.

The tea party just gains in outrage not strength, it hit its apex a while ago.

To answer the original 2 questions, yes and it depends who the opposition is.

To respond to cold iron, I must ask if we're still feeling the effects of "W"'s big mistakes? If you follow you own statement, we still have 2 more years of feeling the mistakes of "W"'s administration before we feel any of Obama's. That makes a total of 16 years of "W"'s lies and their affects of our country and the world. You've just negated everything anyone has said about Obama ruining the country because were still feeling the effects of Bush 2.

Most presidents have a lasting impact, some more than others. FDR's New Deal, LBJ's War on Poverty, Nixon's opening the door to China and founding the EPA (by executive order, as a matter of fact), are certainly still impacting us today. All good things, and appropriate for the federal government to do, from my perspective.

I think in time Obama will be looked on quite favorably, as Truman is today. He has handled a ridiculous number of crises that were not of his making, and kept the ship afloat and moving forward.

Please! Not of his making? The IRS scandal, B******i, Fast and Furious, the VA scandal, and the Obamacare debacle to name just a few?
