San Francisco Considers Changing V****g Age – Activist Group Wants To Lower Legal Age From 18 To 16!

With the November p**********l e******n coming up fast, lawmakers and politicians face a variety of hurdles. The p******c has led to the controversial mail-in v****g option, for instance.

But as any e******n approaches, other questions are considered are as well. For example, should the legal v****g age remain 18 … or should it be changed?

That has always been a hotly debated topic, after all.

And San Francisco is about to decide if 18 is the correct v****g age, or if it should be lowered.

If the proposition passes in November, the California city would be the first in the nation to allow those under the age of 18 to legally v**e in in local e******ns.

And that new legal age? They want it to be 16.

Via Breitbart (citing NBC News):

San Francisco residents will v**e in November to determine if 16 and 17-year-olds should be allowed to v**e in local e******ns.

A group called V**e 16 SF is pushing for the v****g age to drop to 16; they are demanding that local state officials “treat them as equal constituents.”

They also claim that getting the right to v**e would give them “the support and resources they need to continue building on that habit as they grew older,” so said V**e 16 SF organizer Crystal Chan.

Here’s a snippet from the group’s website:

Sixteen- and 17-year-olds deserve the right to v**e on issues that affect them on the local level.

Further, v****g is the most reliable way for ordinary citizens to influence the government.

Lowering the v****g age would make sure local politicians to listen to sixteen- and 17-year-olds and address their needs.

But not everyone is on board with the idea.

Colorado College senior and Republican activist Nate Hochman told NBC that young people simply “might not be able to recognize good governance.”

Hochman added that sophomores and juniors in high school are “deeply impressionable.” They’re also “not capable of making completely rational decisions about v****g.”

But V**e 16 SF does have one big backer: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

She said it’s “important to capture kids when they are in high school when they are learning about the government.”

Despite the Speaker’s support, however, the idea is still bound to meet with stiff opposition when the city v**es on the idea in November.

If it passes, though, it would set a precedent — one that other towns and cities around the nation might follow.
