The Sierra Club has indeed protested the harvesting of timber (from living trees) in environmentally critical areas, but they have NEVER stood in the way of ANY proposal to clear dead wood from the wilderness because no such thing has ever been proposed.

A proposal involves an actual plan and a motion on the floor to v**e on on it. That never happened... Go ahead and check the legislative records... I have... it never happened and the reason should be obvious. It's not feasible. These fires are burning on wild land, not manicured parks. There are 33 million acres of wild land in California alone. It would take billions of dollars to clear out the underbrush and dead wood is useless to the tiber industry. So, you really think that's something the Republicans are going to propose? Get real. What YOU are referring to is what Republicans like to tell the media. "Oh well, we keep telling them to clear the underbrush and they won't have it." So they're lying, which is easy to do when you're not actually trying to make something work.

The Democrats are allowing early-term embryos to be aborted by qualified medical professionals in sterile environments to save them from growing into late-term babies where they would suffer much more pain as they are aborted in dirty garages, motel rooms or anywhere hidden from the law. That's called mercy.

I agree. In any murder, for example, only the trigger puller is the murderer (legally, there are exceptions to this). Other people can contribute to the situation, but can not be realistically accused of homicide.

Animals aren't humans and the comparison is specious to put it mildly. I'm all for animal welfare and treating them humanely but humans will always come first. As it should be. As for animal rights (a rat is a pig is a dog is a boy) that is mental illness masquerading as philosophy.

Animal rightists don't. You should read some of the stuff the nut Peter Singer has written. Tom Regan was also an animal rightist but he wasn't as far gone as Singer and much more interesting to read.
