We all need a core set of beliefs to get by in life. Each of us has a some what different set.

The thing is our core beliefs can bring us together or drive us apart.

The thing that gets me is why do so many hang on to that which drives us apart. Rather than what we have in common.

That's true in large part.

But it is vital to oppose at others times, out of love, not h**e.

If you think something is really bad for those you love, don't you feel the need to oppose it? Isn't that opposing the person proposing it?

America's warriors' love for America compels them to take arms up against her enemies.

For myself I am intolerant of intolerance and believe everything that does not include violence should be legal. Also I do think that Islam and democracy are incompatible.

Well before we go far a stray.

I bring up this issue mainly as an issue between those of us on this site & the people we deal with on a day to day basis.

For if we can not find a common set of core beliefs with each other here We will never find common ground elsewhere.

Be one this site for any amount of time & you will see that it is all about disagreement with what the other person believes.

Actually,

This is just for me... But I think it's more important to respect the person you disagree with than it is to find something to agree on with that person.

Here's my philosophy regarding this:

* Respecting others only comes to those that respect themselves. Hating the opponent comes from this lack of self respect.
* Arrogance is the void caused by the absence of self confidence, which goes hand in hand with lack of respect for others, which is why arrogant people don't respect themselves.
* You can disagree without hating if you respect yourself, and you believe your position is correct and just.
* If you can't disagree without hating, you're a pitiful sort, because being correct isn't your goal.

You are correct. Respect of others is always important.

Others respect of you should give you confidence in you self.

Respect is at the core of what we all hold dear.

But the bottom line is we have to agree on more than we disagree on.

So I say that is why a common set of core beliefs is needed.

There will always be room for our differences.

Just like you I am so good I will not change.

Seriously though. Even though we have never met I would bet that if we were to see what our real core values are we might even have a good word or two sat to each other.

You could be right but if it's in person or a hockey mask just in case.

You won't need a mask & I won't be wearing one.

That is where we differ. I thing over all that I am more trusting of others than you.

Trust in others or the lack of itis a main part of ones core values.

I totally agree! Today we see so much lack of respect. Much of this comes from how one is raised. In church, schools, etc. I've been seeing so much disrespect over the last few years and when we see how our politicians talk to and about each other, it 's very sad. We can agree to disagree but we need to be civil and respect everyone.

I just don't know the best way to put this but I hope it makes some sense.

I think that so much of what divides us is stirred up by the media.

It is those that control the media have an agenda to control what people see & hear about what is going on.

Sure you seem to see all sides to things. But the main slant on coverage is put it in ways to hide the real t***h.

I say this means as individuals we each see something a little different about most things.

We all would like to think our core beliefs are sound & good.

But little by little our Core Beliefs are eroded.

We try to hold on to the old & base our new views on our old core beliefs.

I say this leaves us confused as to what is happening in the world to day & adjusting our beliefs to the new changes.

So I say we all need to look inside our self to find & keep the important core beliefs. The most important being how we deal with others.

I do believe that the main core values we all have are good but do not always show up in our day to day living.

As life has gotten more complex we as individuals are not changing our values to adapt to the present.

The good in most of us out weighs the bad.

I welcome you true feelings on what I have said.

Well said. You mentioned the media. Good topic for discussion. Personally, I do not ever watch the news on ABC, CBS, NBC or MSNBC. I used to some in the past. I watch Fox News and get on the internet. The media is 85%+ liberal and progressive. They are mostly Christian h**ers and totally biased. I am a Christian and certainly not perfect but when we as a nation turn our back on God and his word the Bible, then there will come a time He will not bless us anymore. This country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and we are going down a slippery slope. Our president is not Christian but I certainly don't h**e him. I am not biased or r****t. In fact, I'm telling everyone to seriously look at Dr. Ben Carson as our leader in '16. We need to clean up government and get honest, America-loving men and women of character and integrity in office. We can start with this fall e******n. V**e out the lifetimes and get new blood who can tell the American people the T***H. Then we can start promoting new blood for the WH like Carson. I challenge everyone to read or watch on TV his life story "Gifted Hands". Read his books "America the Beautiful" and "One Nation". Great reading AND he is right on target!

I WAS serious,,, when YOU want change,,, your change is IN YOU, not others, if you go about wanting to change others, you admit, you think they are flawed, and that your opinion is better,,,, superior,,,,,
That is what I don't like about YOUR way of seeing things,,, you actually give ZERO factual data that it is better,,, and after trying the l*****t way for 40 years, I am convinced it is not. When you claim you l*****ts are tolerant of others views it is simply not true.

"No man has a right in America to treat any other man "tolerantly" for tolerance is the assumption of superiority.

Our liberties are equal rights of every citizen.
It is from weakness that people reach for dictators and concentrated government power. Only the strong can be free. And only the productive can be strong."

Wendell Willkie

And that my friend is why you will not get change, because you see no need in YOURSELF,,,, only in those mistaken souls around you,,,

AND, that is why I would never follow you.

Very well stated. Further really, you have to pick what side of the fence you live and die on....and not give a crap if anyone else likes it or not....and so....for me and mine....those around me....friends...associates....fellow Patriots.....we all have a same solid core system...."America....love her or leave her". From there is spans out to what do you do with those that are in a total "cause" to destroy the United States? Simple for me....anyone that is against my Nation, is my enemy.
