Money Down The Rat Hole
by Erich Dunkelberger

Apparently, the US Government has misinterpreted the news that tax revenues are the highest they have ever been to mean there is a huge surplus of money in need of spending. You can’t look at any news source without seeing someone asking for money. Comprehensive bills are in various stages throughout Congress. Uncle Sam must be positively flush with money. Then you look at the National Debt Clock and see the $17.6 trillion debt rocketing upward. To put that into perspective, that works out to $1,049,560 per taxpayer.

Several months ago, the VA turmoil was front and center in all the news media. There were 40 veterans dead in Phoenix, Az., veterans being placed on waiting lists only to be ignored, mismanagement and corruption ran rampant. The VA Secretary resigned or was asked to resign over the disgrace perpetrated against our veterans. Last week, the acting Secretary, Sloan Gibson announced that the VA needed comprehensive overhaul costing $17.6 billion. The CBO claims the overhaul could cost $50 billion. I’m sorry, but that is not what is needed at the VA; the bureaucratic culture prevalent throughout government needs to be held accountable for what it does. Receiving bonuses for manufacturing bogus paperwork is NOT acceptable. The money requested, other than a small portion going to hiring some doctors and nurses, will get lost in bureaucracy and unions. The hospital and clinic facilities already on the drawing boards won’t be built any faster than planned. A year or two down the road, it will be noticed that their money is gone and the plight of the veterans hasn’t improved one iota. But, by then, there will be several new crises to hide that view.

In Texas, i*****l a***ns (I know, I’m not supposed to use illegal or alien) are pouring across the southern border. The rate is so high that the DHS is set to spend $110 million to t***sport them to other states, where they will be dumped on the states and told to report to their court hearing at a later time, now as long as two years in the future. That’s working so well that 90% of those supposed to show up in a Dallas court aren’t showing up. The President wants $3.7 billion to handle the crisis. The problem is that the money goes to hiring judges, people to care for the unattended children, etc. There is nothing in the bill that stops the problem: they need to secure the border. A nation that can’t (or won’t) secure their borders ceases to be a nation! If passed, the money will be gone by October, but the crisis will only get worse.

By the way, Secretary of State John Kerry is giving Iran $2.8 billion in an effort to bribe them into not producing nuclear weapons in the next three months. The negotiations have been going on for a while now, and, all that time, Iran has been spinning centrifuges wildly the get closer to that goal of producing fissionable material. I’m sure Iran will put that money to great use, probably continued funding of Hamas and Hezbollah and any other terrorist entities in search of money to create mayhem.

This is just a few examples of boondoggles proposed to spend that surplus of money the Treasury has. There are other comprehensive bills floating out there. The thing to keep in mind is that comprehensive is liberal speak for a bill that has so many parts to it and is so costly that the money will get lost and nothing addressed will change. Anyone remember the comprehensive healthcare plan, Obamacare? And, for those that are unaware, there ISN’T any surplus, but a yearly deficit. That means the US government doesn’t have any money. Anything spent by the government, puts every citizen deeper into debt. A child born today is born already $55,259 in debt. Wake up, that’s your future they want to spend.

All you say is not only true, but discouraging. It is what we get for putting self serving dingbats in control. It is not their fault that they get away with this nonsense, it is ours. We keep putting them back in the same place every e******n cycle. It is time we never let anyone serve more than two terms in a row. By the time the second term is over, they have muddied the waters so badly you can never see the rocks at the bottom.

Term limits will never become a firm law, but we the people can impose them by kicking out the crooks and putting new and inexperienced crooks, and reducing the number of crooks hiding in the bureaucracy. Some of those bozo's have been slowly turning this wonderful country into a police state. Too many laws that do nothing except irritate everyone.

Do you recognize shades of the Mafia and their system of management? Do they teach that in Government 101?

There will never be a just gov until welfare is eliminated for the masses and term limits are approved. The individual states can limit the terms of those in congress who are from their states.. Power of the people is most powerful close to home. Start a grass roots effort to limit terms in the US Congress. It's doable.

What is wrong with having people do something for the handouts? If they have no time in it, it seems to be worthless. Even a small task can be imposed to give them some form of freedom, instead of making it seem that they are worthless. No body is worthless, the workman is worthy of His hire. Is it mean to expect someone to contribute some effort, or is it not done to make them feel that they are owned.

I totally agree, that is part of the solution.
But I'm not convinced it will happen through the states
Peaceful V**e process or federally for that matter.

Pray for peace

Appreciate your input. Do you agree that the US has a culture of dependency? Might there be those who feel deserving of handouts? Obumma's illegal aunt who lived in the WH got a gov. monthly check. Might there be those who are proud to live off others?
People who adhere to a higher moral standard assume that most people are like them. Why? Because they were born equally naked like ever body. That's where the e******y ends, at birth. From thereon people develop asymmetrically. To be rendered equal would be a miracle. I do not believe that all people want to work. I don't believe i******s pay taxes or, pay their own way. Welfare has caused a great migration to the large cities of the north. since welfare has replaced work there are no Americans who are willing to work the farms. That has led to a massive migration of i******s to fill that void. My x-wife's daughter s**mmed SS Disability from age 25 to 50. She has no shame.

If you were getting unemployment checks, would you offended if you were asked to perform some mundane job to improve the appearance of the neighborhood you live in? For instance, picking up trash on the street or sweeping or shoveling the sidewalk in front of the Post Office, or the Police Station, or the Hospital? Or even some other city owned public facility, like the Court House or even the bus stops, or schools. I know I wouldn't , I would consider it a privilege to contribute to the welfare of the community.

Well I don't know how e******y works, what appears equal to some appears unequal to others. For instance, if I work for someone -off the books- I don't have to pay taxes. and I feel that I have every right to do that, but I have to realize that I am giving up my credit in the system.

Then again, if I work for someone and have to pay income tax, and social security taxes, I feel that I am subsidizing myself if I am receiving welfare. but the taxes (income and SS) are my backup for disaster.

How many of the i******s pay income taxes? Probably none, no wonder they come here, they can work for less wages and still make out alright, but they give up the right to receive welfare and Social Security entitlements . If they are fired, they have no fall back. Maybe they can afford that, but it seems to me, that they can just go to ER and get any health needs satisfied.

It seems to me, that everyone should be permitted to sign on or sign off of these backup programs. if they desire. How would that go over with everyone? If you did not contribute, you would not get welfare or health insurance.

No that would never fly, but that is what it was like before these programs were instituted. Was it such a tragedy at that time? I haven't talked to anyone about that, but I guess no one is alive that existed then. Who knows what a difference it was?

Larry, the biggest share of those drawing welfare & medicaid in this country today have never contributed a thing and never will. They were born into the system and will die in the system and those who work and pay taxes have to pay for it. Their just parasites on the dumbohcraps plantation......

I do not begrudge needy people from having aid when they need it, but why aren't these issues left to the religions that support the sharing of wealth for indigent instead of the government. If the government did not support these issues, do you believe that the religious would start to pick up the tab? They do it for other countries that do not have a benevolent government program, is that considered right or wrong? Even atheists have programs of helping the indigent. I admit, that these enclaves are discriminatory at times, but so is the government. Even the VA does not consider support for every veteran. And emergency rooms are not free to everybody.
