How Much Time do You Have left?

My Grandpa used to always tell me "there is good to find in bad situations."

Many times during my lifetime I have remembered that advice and must admit that finding good in bad is more often than not very difficult but it can be done.

With the arrival of the CONVI-19 virus no one can say that this is not a bad thing. The facts about this virus are suspect in so many ways that an aire of confusion has arose not just in America but throughtout the world.

The one good thing probably among many is the discovery that China has for years been the source of many if not most of much needed medical supplies. From asprin to the most needed medicine and medical equipment and almost every product on the market is coming from a country that America is now on very shaky terms, much like the cold war days with Russia.

If this wasn't so sad, even dangerous, it would be funny because it seems that it has taken a non-politician, a newcomer, to recognize that this needs to change at once if not quicker because of the vulnerability this places our country in at times like we are facing today.

Sadly, as usual, time is being wasted because this deadly matter is being handled by politicans.

You may be asking what does this has to do with the question of how much time do you have left? Glad you asked.

The Bible has something to say about time. I would like to look at least two places or scriptures that address the subject of time; Psalms 90 speaks about time. The focus for this purpose is verse 12.

The writer says Lord, teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Vs. 4 says" For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. "

Numbering our days.

Have you ever numbered your days?

When we were young time seemed endless. Strange how school seemed to last forever, but the summer never lasted long enough. When we reached our teens we couldn't wait to reach sixteen so we could drive a car. Then eighteen became a target, then twenty-one.

After twenty-one time didn't seem to be so important as we went about our various vocations. Then, suddenly, 65 began to be the next goal so we could finally retire and do whatever we want. The door would be open for endless opportunities to be free to be, go, do, whatever we wanted. Yeah Right!!!

Let's make an attempt to number our days.

1. From conception to birth averages nine months after all life begins at conception. This is approx. 270 days of life

2. From birth to say six years when most start real school is approx. 2,190 days.

3. From first grade to graduation is twelve years of which nine months of each year is spent in school and three months of vacation. This is approx. 4,380 days.

4. Many go to college for four to seven years, let's say for conversation six years. Another 2,190 days.

5. Then career years begin. Let's say twenty-four through sixty-five. This is 14,965 days.

6. The rest of life varies in length depending on so many probabilities. It is hard to put a number however, according to goverment statistics a man who is 77.8 years old today can expect on average an additional ten years or live to be 87.5 years old. So from sixty-five to roughly 87 is 10 years or another 3,360 days.

So to total these figures counting our days: Approx. 27,355 days which equals approx 74.5 years.

How much time do you have left?

What have you done or what are you doing with your time?

This age means you will have 74 birthdays.
74 summers and winters
74 New Years Eve
74 Christmas
74 4th of July
you get the picture. When we count our days life it is really just like a vapor, it is like a flower.

God has given us everything we need to not only live these days that go by so quickly but everything we need to live forever.

The same faith that has allowed us to look both ways before crossing the street is the same faith it takes to trust God for life everlasting.

The one condition for exchanging a life that only last for so long for a life that never ends in a new environment, a new way of life that has no disease, no virus, no rioting, no murder.

You must make that decision while you are living out your numbered days, after your number is up it is too late.

John 3:16 is so very simple It speaks of God's unlimited love. It tells us that God supplied the way through giving His only Son as a sacrifice or the price that needs to be paid for the worlds failures, sins, rebellion, no matter how big or how small.

Jesus took our lickin, He gave His life so we could have life everlasting.

There is no bias with God. God is not racist, His word includes the "whosoever" THIS MEANS YOU and me.

If nothing else, this virus is an example of how quickly life can change. No matter if you believe it is a contrived hate-filled event, or it may be a judgement from God, natures way of controling the earths population, whatever you believe it doesn't change the fact that all of us are really only here for a short time.

How much time do you Have Left? How much time do want?

Jesus offers a way for us to have all the time in the world. All we have to do is ask Him for it. Come as you are warts and all. Confess you are a sinner that you have made many mistakes in life. The Bible says that if any man be in Christ old things have passed away all things become new. You can have a do-over. Our past can't be changed but it can be forgiven.

In those days we tried to number are many days we wish we could live again. However, there are also many days we wish hadn't happened. It is those days that haunt us and hold us back from enjoying the days we have left. God will take those days and throw them away as far as the East is from the West if you take advantage of His offer.

How much time do You have left?

There used to be a prophecy that things would last until 2024. But I'd like to see my daughter grow up and fulfill her dreams which would take the timeline out a few years (say at least 2030.) I also do have Christ and know of my sins. As a Catholic it occurs in my thoughts, in my words, In what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault through my most grievous fault.....

God is not a racist you are correct and I think He hit a homerun this time. Although some individuals ignore the current situation, most heed and have taken account of this tragedy. It touches everyone. My neighbor just went to the funeral of her 34 yr old yr old niece. People need to look after themselves...eat properly, exercise daily, get some sun, plenty of rest, watch sugar/alcohol intake...

Thank you for this message, Armageddun.

Your Biblically sound premise, as verse 4 of Psalm 90 entails; what God has seen as the elapsed time of a three hour night watch of an appointed watchmen, we, his human creation, have each occupied as our own portion of the human history that is encapsulated in a thousand years.

Even within a human life, the disparity between one given hour and another is often literally immeasurable, for by a decision, within a split second, lives can be irreversibly changed.

Our God is so great He can indeed retrieve all the pieces and reweave the rent fabric, but that moment on earth can never be relived, or the earthly consequences of it's physical and mental effect upon others never fully undone.

It is to God's infinite glory that whenever we turn to Him through belief in His Son, Jesus, and with contriteness of heart, He points our path, with Psalm 90:12: "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom,"
and
2nd Corinthians 1:3-7, ..."the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."

Whatever the remaining time allotted us, even the grievous errors of our past lives from which He has delivered us are given purpose and meaning, as we are able to comfort and counsel those who are attempting to repeat our errors.

"For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His loving devotion for those who fear Him.
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him." Psalm 103:11-13

Only through the love, mercy, forgiveness and purpose of life that is bestowed upon us following our belief and acceptance of the eternal gospel of Christ, can we ever fully understand why God created us, and how blessed we now are to be destined to an eternity spent in His presence.
