When we kids were living in the desert with our grandparents, small hawks would occasionally perch on the fence outside of the kitchen window, then they'd turn their heads to look at us. Our grandparents told us that these
hawks were called sparrow hawks because of their size. I suppose you can type "sparrow hawks" in your computer to learn more about them.

Too bad they don’t come big enough to snatch adult humans off the ground, out of a crowd!

I got all my furniture and clothing steam treated/sanitized and stacked in the garage and the structure of the house imbued with chemical deterrents to discourage the bedbugs who think they want to remain roommates.

The rest of the week is slow trips back and forth from that pile in the garage with manageable loads of stuff going back in to be put into place. Plenty of detours for rest, reflection and recreation as my gouty toe is complaining. Why, oatmeal!?!?

One thing I loved about Destin. Watching seagulls up close on my balcony. As long as I didn’t move, they would just sit.

I was blessed this summer to have three hawks patrolling the land I inhabit. One morning one of them joined me for my outdoor breakfast...
