Lesson for Trump fans...
Farm workers are some of the most critical workers in this country and Trump has blocked all legal immigration under the guise of providing American jobs for Americans...

Do your homework before you reply. NC has more i*****l w****rs than any State except CA. NC has a terrible record on migrant workers, legal or illegal. I have worked in NC since the 70’s. What do you know about NC first hand?

So, you support “schitt jobs” for people who seek the American dream. How many times have you heard Trump say that he favors LEGAL IMMIGRATION? (Answer: dozens)
NICE! You’re lack of empathy, for your fellow man, is stunning!

Correct me if I'm wrong... But the American workers would have their salaries subject to income tax and other deductions... While the i******s simply take money under the table...
Does this not allow farmering industries to offer much lower salaries?

Without E Verify, i*****l w****rs will always be a problem, Yes, here in the Socialist Republic of California the vineyards are mostly staffed with Hispanic workers, They pick the grapes. But, in the last few years I have seen them being hired in construction trade with a Hispanic foreman. The i******s have moved out of the vineyards and orchards and are now taking much better jobs.
Sensible Immigration Reform and E Verify. Obama/Biden has a majority in the House and a Super Majority in the Senate and he didn't even try to reform Immigration.
Again, I******s are taking the more sk**led jobs and Hispanic bosses are hiring them... Carpenters, Plumbers, Electricians, Plumbers... Only the new arrivals are in the orchards unless they know one of the vineyard managers.
And yes, a lot of those trades workers are working for lower wages.

They grow a lot of cabbage, have the outer banks, borders South Carolina, have the great dismal swamp, grow tobacco, some counties allow liquor by the drink or bring your own bottle, where the Wright brothers flew at kitty hawk and last but not least always get the shxt kicked potty of them by hurricanes. Oh yeah, good basketball, a couple of world class colleges. Trekked a long time to drive from eat to west, not so long from North to south. At some point, you start seeing "south of the border" signs.

Yes, that's why they'd rather hire i******s than legitimate citizens. Not only that, but i******s don't dare to complain about substandard or even unsafe working conditions, otherwise they'll be deported.

So it's ok for them to drive down American wages so you can get food cheaper?
Isn't that how Capitalism works, supply and demand?
Perhaps picking fruits and vegetables are in greater demand than sitting behind a computer in Silly-Con valley.

You are mostly wrong. There might be a few small operations that pay under the table, but for any large operations, every one is issued paychecks, with all taxes withheld. The feds, and more importantly the States, monitor seasonal operators during harvest season to make sure everything is paid with a paper trail.
Since I am a retired CPA, I prepare tax returns for local community organizations that get a lot of undocumented workers. Some of these people have more than 20 W-2's from local growers. That is not unusual.
Most of those returns have refunds from withholding taxes. (First timers usually owe, but by the second year they have their taxes covered and get refunds) They also have Social Security and Medicare withheld and they will never benefit from those payments. This also applies to DACA qualified i******s.
Yep you know most of the important stuff. Tobacco is pretty much dead now. All the Universities are as l*****t/liberal as any in the country. Charlotte & Raleigh have their homeless, b*m & a****a cadres.
