Is he a compulsive liar, simply an i***t, or both?

Trump tweeting or telling a lie to the American people is a daily occurrence. Before playing golf on Saturday, Donald Trump took time to spread a false claim about God on Twitter.

“The Democrats took the word GOD out of the Pledge of Allegiance at the Democrat [sic] National Convention,” the president wrote.

“At first I thought they made a mistake, but it wasn’t. It was done on purpose. Remember Evangelical Christians, and ALL, this is where they are coming from – it’s done. V**e Nov[ember] 3!”

Though Trump’s own religious convictions have often been called into question, evangelical Christians form a key bloc of support as he seeks re-e******n against Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

As the website Politifact pointed out, the claim about the Democrats and the Pledge of Allegiance spread online after Peggy Hubbard, an unsuccessful Republican senatorial candidate in Illinois, made it in a Facebook post on 20 August.

The social media giant, which partners with Politifact, f**gged the post as untrue.

“On the first night … participants sang the ‘Star-Spangled Banner’ instead of saying the Pledge of Allegiance. On the second, third and fourth nights, ‘under God’ was included in the pledge.”

So does he deliberately lie or is he too stupid to have his staff check the veracity of things before he spews his nonsense.

Hey Kevy, the title of your thread is : Is he a compulsive liar, simply an i***t, or both?

I can't help but think that you're referring to yourself.

Democrats did leave under God out of the pledge at several of their caucas meetings.

I read that. Kevy likes to leave important facts out of his narrative.

Trump left the impression that the DNC removed "one nation under God" from the pledge at the Dem convention. I do not know if he meant to do that or not, and neither do you. What he said was factually correct. Democrats DID indeed leave out the phrase as he said, but it was done in at least three of the official caucus meetings, not in the official DNC openings each night.. One was the Muslim group, the second was the LGQBT group. I heard a clip of a third one, but did not catch the group name. So YES some democrats DID leave it out.
Was it ordered by the DNC? Probably not. So, at the least, the President's statement was misleading. Even Politifact says it was partially true and partially false, because it was misleading.
But then again, so was yours, Kevyn! To quote you, "So does he deliberately lie or is he too stupid to have his staff check the veracity of things before he spews his nonsense." Well, Kevyn? Why didn't YOU check your fact's before spewing? Instead of giving the facts, you exaggerated what the President said from a partial t***h to a flat out lie. Then you deliberately omitted that Politifact said Trump was partially correct. So I guess you are EXACTLY what you claim Trump is. No wonder you h**e him so. It reveals what you feel about yourself.

Unfortunately he is not speaking to educated aware people, because these lies or exaggerations are tailored to reach his base whom he knows will not allow facts to sully the beauty of a narrative that speaks to their white grievances. Trumpism is a cult and it is no mystery that he embraces kook conspiracy phenomena like Q***n and others that traffic in fringe absurdities.

I am no defender of Democrats (unless they do some that merits it) but why does “God” have to be bought into the conversation?
Written into the Constitution is a separation of Church and State. I have no problem with politicians talking about their personal faith but the idea that some sort of national religion is both desirable and enforceable is simply unacceptable in a modern free thinking democracy.

Got to love this black-or-white absolutist mentality. You can’t disagree with Trump without being labeled a “h**er”? Somehow this delegitimizes any criticism and nobody is immune to that, especially DT.

Setting aside your name calling, we get it that you don’t like Kevyn but are you seriously suggesting Trump doesn’t lie or exaggerate? Sure both sides do but Trump seems to do it with breathtaking aplomb even when he can be instantly fact checked.
Is this the new political normal then?
Hopefully it will end with the coming e******n.

The “he who smelt it dealt it” response so popular in second grade, brilliant! The two years you spent there really paid off.
