Liberal scum (apologies for the redundancy) have been peddling this line of paranoia since the 1960s. The fact is both programs are huge Ponzi schemes that will require mounting increases in revenue to keep up with the benefits and there is the additional burden of decreasing numbers of workers and increasing numbers of beneficiaries. The decreasing numbers of workers has been caused, to a large extent, by a working generation that has been depleted by the 40 million abortuses that would now be in the work force.

It has been called a Ponzi scheme by many, other than me.

Shooting off my mouth? Learn your facts and the history of Social Security. It has been a contract changed at whim by Washington more times than both of us have fingers & toes.

One basic way is that the many feared it would become part of a national identity system that liberals scoffed at. In fact, its most ardent supporters acknowledged that were it thought to become such, the bill would never have passed. My first Social Security card from 1962 was emblazoned with a message saying it was not to be used for identification. My replacement card in 1966 no longer had that.

Benefits were originally not taxable.

Those are just for starters. Learn something yourself.
