Capt., I taught in one of the most liberal counties in the country, Montgomery County, Md. Even liberals jokingly called the county, The Peoples Republic of Moco. I never saw the county board of ed. lie about US history or government. We were given a county curriculum to teach, and while I had a few problems with it, I have to admit that it was fair and nonpolitical. We were not supposed to tell the kids our own political party or philosophy. Several times I had to rebuke my assistant for doing so. When pressed by my students, in the interests of fairness, I did tell them I was a liberal, in case they thought I was teaching a liberal point of view, ( which to my knowledge I never did).
