One of our last remaining heroes from old wars

Here is an article that an Army buddy of mine wrote for a local newspaper in New Jersey about one of the really patriotic men still left from earlier wars. It is something that I like to hear about although I am sure that most leaners would be irate at having to read.

To this day when I hear TAPS, it tares at my heart by knowing I've lost another brother.

I played TAPS many times in performances in my school days since I was a good trumpet player and never really thought of it as anything but the "go to bed" music of the military. I haven't thought of it any different than you say since I was in the Army. This guy really puts himself into playing it and is one of the top buglers around anymore.

We lost our local trumpet player quite a few years ago so now all we have at Veterans burials is an electronic version of Taps,

Since IEDs are still used just the same as always it seems to me that these guys today are real heroes since they go out daily on patrols never knowing where today's IEDs are planted.

Looking at the devastation from Boston one has to wonder how these kids can have the guts to go out daily.
