this was on a few years ago
but it fits today

Robert E. Lee was married to George Washington's grand daughter.
Lee was working with Grant during the Mexican American War.He was a decorated hero.
Lee believed s***ery was evil and he and his wife broke the law, teaching s***es how to read and write.

After the Civil War he worked with Andrew Jackson's program for reconstruction. The barracks at West Point were named after him .
Robert E. Lee was a man who served his country his entire life.
His statues are now called a blight, and are being torn down.
People are yelling;"You can't change history".but sadly that is being tried.
The rage against Lee,and the removing of his statue is very similar to the N**i's burning of books.
Isis is trying to rewrite history by destroying historical artifacts.
Is Isis who we want to emulate??
The USSR and China purged their history.
Do we want to copy them??
This country is not Iraq, and the statues are not of Sadam

Lee was torn about the prospect of the South leaving the Union, but he believed that ultimately, states rights trumped the federal government, and chose to lead the Confederate Army.
His estate"Arlington" near Washington DC was his home, and while he was away the Federal Government demanded that he pay his taxes in person.Lee sent his wife to pay the taxes, but she was refused permission to do so.
Since the taxes were unpaid, the Government began burying Union fatalities on his land.
The Government is still burying fatalities there today.
It is now called "Arlington National Cemetery"
Do you want to tear up that hallowed place too???
Is your next step the villification of our founding fathers---Washington,Jefferson ,etc.???They all owned s***es.
Is your end goal the removal of our constitution????

Lee was also a Confederate and did everything possible to destroy the union of our states. And just as Germany made no statues to Hitler and the rest of N**i Germany the United States of America has no business creating statues to the Confederates and the Confederate States of America who tried like hell to destroy our union including our most precious constitution.

The only question I have is why do you Republicans have such a hard time understanding that? You are Republicans and died trying to preserve our union. Why are you now trying to defend the Confederacy and more importantly why are you trying to preserve statues that memorialize Generals and leaders of that horrific union!!! You are supposed to stand for America not the Confederates who tried to destroy us!!!

Excellent post!! Let me add something:

Herschel Walker:
I was reading the greatest book ever written, the Bible, and I read 'But if you don’t forgive others, your Father will not forgive your offenses.' - Matthew 6:15.....Why are we penalizing people for what their ancestors did? Forgiveness doesn’t mean you get something in return."

And

Trump at Mount Rushmore last night with his Fourth of July speech:
"Our Nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values and indoctrinate our children. Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our founders, deface our most sacred memorials and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities...I am going to prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law...People who damage or deface federal statues or monuments will get a minimum of 10 years in prison...I am signing an Executive Order to establish the National Garden of American Heroes that will feature statues of the greatest Americans who have ever lived. It will be a 'new monument to the giants of our past.'"

He tried, and failed. So why do we try to wipe out history, instead of learning from it?? Erasing history doesn't change it. Ignorant fools.

Good or bad, every part of our history is just that, part of our history. Lessons are learned from history and like it or not, those lessons help shape who we are today.

We have socially evolved, that is a trait of human nature -- you liberals seem to have a very big problem with human nature, you are constantly trying to fight it with social engineering and revisionism, and all you ever accomplish is tragedy for those you purport to be helping and then, because you deny the realities of cause and effect, you simply move along and refuse to acknowledge your ilk's responsibility for the consequences of your "help."

But I digress -- as Trump said a few years ago when your fellow travelers first began going after statues -- you can't erase history, but you can learn from it.

Every one of those statues and other national monuments is part of our history. Erase history, you erase the country.

If it's so important to you and the other l*****ts to erase America, maybe you should leave the rest of us, who love America just fine, alone and go find your own country to screw up.

Would you be satisfied if they removed the statues and put them in museums? Just what does removing a statue do for you personally? Are you that easily triggered? Better yet, does removing a statue solve any grievances you have with the country? You guys are a bunch of easily triggered wussies. Everything offends you. you should leave.

Removing reminders of this countries growth will only add to the forgetting of times just where they belong. In the past. We learn from the past and need not to go back in time. Keep removing the reminders and History will re peat itself.

For you doubters read a history book and not the internet.

Lee was a product of the times...period. And his genius is still taught in military tactical courses.

I graduated from Robert E Lee High in Jacksonville FL. No one b***hed about it them.

What? That Lee chose wrong? Why do you say we don't get that?

We aren't the ones who declared black men superpredators.

Democrats did that.

We aren't the ones trying to keep them locked up.

Dems are doing that.

We don't want b****s dependent on us or anyone else.

Dems want that.

You're still a s***e to Democrats. What do we have to do with it?

At the time of the Civil war, seceding was not illegal and the common opinion of both North and South was states rights trumped the federal government except were specific authority was granted by the states to the federal government. Most people can remember a few of the important amendments like the first, second, fifth, 13th, 14th, and 15th (except Elizabeth Warren), but they forget about the ninth and tenth amendments. Just to refresh everyone's memory, the ninth amendment states that powers not specifically given to the federal government are retained by the states and the people. The tenth amendment states that powers not delegated to to the federal government nor specifically denied to the states, are reserved by the states and through them to the people. This division between federal government and state government (and the people) was so important that they wrote two amendments to emphasize the separation of the powers.
We should make every bill in Congress a line longer, requiring a statement as to where in the Constitution Congress has the authority to enact this specific legislation.

Why do you not condemn the Democratic Party ? It was the party of s***ery. It was the party that ran McClellan against Abraham Lincoln in 1864 with the promise to allow the South to break away. It was the party of r****m after the Civil War. Many prominent Democrats were in the KKK.

He should demand that the name Robert C. Bird be removed from every Building and Monument in W. Virginia.
