Yes arrest and even shoot vandals. They should study history rather than try to destroy it. Even admirers of Confederate generals have a right. By the way I find R.E. Lee totally contemptible but don't support destruction or vandalism. Let the destroyers continue to admire Stalin, Mao, Castro, Che, Lenin, even Hitler.
I recall when the American N**i Party marched in Skokie, Illinois, Jews didn't r**t or disrupt. They turned their backs. Now that's class.

What do you find contemptible about Robert E Lee?

Problem is the media will suppress v**e f***d info. Sadly and dangerously for America, the media will do anything...ANYTHING...to defeat Trump and the Republicans in Congress.
The deepest pro-s***ery rebels in the Civil War were fairer to Lincoln than the media and congressional Democrats are to Trump.

I don't agree with the "destruction" in general either. However, often when reasonable attempts at discourse fails decade after decade -people get tired of being patient. When will those confederates accept the fact that they did lose -and badly? Question: if you played team sports -could you imagine getting the game film of your teams worst lost ever and repeatedly playing it over and over? No, I doubt it -and that's only a small analogy of what minorities feel seeing those statues.

Early in my naval career I was stationed in Virginia. I have always been a "curious traveler" and would get out to see the sights of wherever I found myself stationed. I decided one day to visit the Battlefield in Fredericksburg, VA just to see what kind of displays or exhibits would be present. After twenty minutes of reading the short bios of failed confederate generals, and observing the s***e's "whipping posts" that are maintained in pristine condition - I was warned to "get out of here and not come back" by some white guys. I think they were in shock because I am part African. I also think they were shamed by the incident because we all know that no matter how pretty and rosey one may attempt to paint the real reason behind the civil war - it remains one of the world's ugliest periods in time.

To demonstrate fairness and compromise, I say yes, take down all those negative and horrible reminders of the past and put them in a "confederate museum" for those who seem to relish the tarnished heritage of a lost cause. Personally, I think those who want to keep them and claim "to remind us of our history" totally overlook the fact that discrimination and r****m are alive and well and serve as a visceral and living reminder that for many, people of color still are not free. period.

I agree with most of your remarks, but say leave most statues and monuments in place. The left uses them to harm the country and they move on to more targets like Jesus Christ,
Ulysses S. Grant, abolitionists.
Their hatred even permeates the rest of the world (thanks U.S. media) such as Churchill.
In time they will go after Eisenhower and even Dr. King. From their point of view I could make a case against Dr. King.

PJT- I appreciate your honesty, but I cannot agree. Honestly, what is the point of keeping those monuments and statues which cause so much grief and anxiety to so many? No one alive today participated in the Civil War -yet many alive today are still affected by the atrocity of why that war was fought in the first place.

If keeping those monuments is a historical reminder of heritage, then why aren't we preserving all of those who were k**led or tragically harmed by other events? I don't know of any statues or monuments that celebrate evil, murder, r****m and discrimination. Also, you may be surprised to find that it is not only those on "the left" that believe those remnants of yesterday need to go. In fact, anyone who has ever been wrongly harmed by another would tell you they don't need a reminder to remember.

Would you build a statue to your ex if they c***ted on you with man and beast and bragged all over town what a fool you were?

My own ancestors fought for the C.S.A in the Republic of Texas. I was taught to wear always wear
a 'Gus' and clean western clothes when out in public; especially when around white folk.

Maybe no one ever taught you how to overcome your fragile state of mind

I don't agree. I hold the comfederacy in contempt, but history is my field.
I think this whole statue thing is a manufactured h**x. Some force behind this has stirred this up.
Going back to the 1960s idomt recall.much more than a minor complaint about the Stars and Bars.
This is so manufactured that they now attack Lincoln, Grant and Frederick Douglas.
This is calculated. If the media wasn't so down on America and Trump all would settle down
If this doesn't turn to serious violence I'll be surprised...perhaps disappointed.

I don't believe that, Jedi.
But if it occurs it won't bother me. I'm not big on lies, h**e and treason and that's what the Left is all about.
They are not stupid. After all, they've tricked millions of patriotic Americans who are also Democrats fall for hatred, lies and so much anti-American propaganda.

Many Americans are gullible however. Then p***e sets in and they get stubborn.

Interestingly, many b***k A******ns follow their parents and grandparents into the Democratic Party. Oddly they and their parents etc. reject their great grandparents, great-great, great-great-grandparents.
