Why Colin Kaepernick took a knee...

What other nonviolent and harmless act could he do that would draw this much attention to a cause he holds so important?
Well, he could refuse his monstrous salary, he could make speeches. The refusal of the wealth he received because this country allows him to make as much money as he can, and in fact encourages it - called Capitalism- would draw attention for sure-he would be on talk shows ad nauseum, and drum up backers to his "cause" rather than furthering division in this country, and I for one would applaud him. Right now, and I know this means absolutely nothing to anyone, least of all Mr. Kaepernick, I think of him as a coward, an ungrateful sycophant, an attention seeking spoiled brat. Therefore, I will not listen to anything he has to say. There are many who feel this way, and thus, he has lost a lot of his audience that would be there and cheer him on, if he had not been so selfish. That is the action he could have taken if he were, in fact, so concerned about "injustice". He could also have forgone the nonsense of his socks-another d********g ploy to get attention and make people think he is a bada$$-that may not be the reason he did it, but that is what some including yours truly got out of it. Thus, we would not walk across the street to see him-in fact I would walk across the street to avoid him. As to the silliness of Favre saying he is some sort of hero-that is the most insulting statement to the true heroes who actually fight for this country. I have lost friends and relatives in the wars this country has been involved in, and it is insulting to me and my family for him to have said that.

I haven't figured out a thing.....I'm just calling like it is. I get s**k of people saying he's some kind of hero, when I all he has is dollar signs in his eyes.
I'd be willing to bet if he could go back to the days before he pulled his kneeling stunt, he would do things quite differently...and then he may be playing football still instead of trying wh**ever he can think of to keep his name in the limelight. He has no one to blame for ending his football career but himself.
Let me know when I said he was a hero. He's making a stand. I'd day he was brave b it take a certain amount of courage to buck the system. My heros are first responders & military.

He could have paraded naked around the ticket booths carrying a sign saying America had stripped black people of their rights. That would have focused his actions on black people; instead, he focused everything on himself. It would have produced just as much attention for his cause as he got for what he did.
That way, people would only have thought he was nuts. As it is, they now think he is not deserving of the rights he has that he apparently can't appreciate.
Fortunately he doesn't follow your advice. Does anyone?

And it's not about the f**g or the anthem--and I'm not wrong!
There is a time and a place for everything...
Kneeling while they anthem is being played, or the f**g raised, is disrespectful...
Despite any reasons or causes the individual might hold...
I understand what he is protesting... I disagree with how he goes about it...

That's fine, it's not the way I would protest but I guess I don't care. I'm not losing any sleep over it. I think the U.S. govt has done a lot in it's history that isn't so patriotic. I'm talking about Vietnam, supporting the Shan of Iran, war on drugs, war in the Middle East, etc etc. I know some of you are popping blood vessels right now. But I have my reasons, about 66000 for Vietnam, and what did it do for patriotism?

I didn't say you said that. I said I was sick and tired of
people saying he's some kind of hero. If you're going to make comments on what people have posted, you might want to
read what they posted before you do.

I offered no advice... just answered a question with a commensurate response.

Canuckus Deploracus,
you understand what he is protesting, you can only get away with this on the OPP.
