John Meoff: I am Lutheran and just recently heard that your Pope said that "C*****e C****e caused the
CO19." I was shocked but learned he makes lot of statements without an ounce of knowledge in a lot of
situations etc. Lutheran's are blessed with the same kinds of "higher ups" so not knocking your pope, per sa.
In fact, one faction of the Lutheran's, not mine but a Synod is how they divide their different beliefs...
ELCA, Missouri Synod and several others. When the ELCA "lost their way" so to speak...they passed a stupid
v**e in 2006 or 2009...(wh**ever, makes little difference now) that allowed the gay agenda people to
be accepted, which (in my opinion) is SCRIPTURALLY DEAD WRONG...and their statement came out that
it was a "theological "move" to accommodate a difference of opinions!" One wondered if the next "opinion
would be "sex with animals?" Didn't sound a whole lot like "theologians? coming up with that kind of
a decision for the millions of Lutherans who had really no say in what most believed...thus the "gay agenda"
took off and seems the Catholic's "still making up their minds" but OK for priests to abuse children? One
wonders why we leave so much up to a few people and people are so mixed up in today's world.
John Meoff: I am Lutheran and just recently heard ... (show quote)

But see, here's the thing-for me, God has the final say in what is right and acceptable, not man. I am a Lutheran, as well, a Wisconsin Synod brand Lutheran, but I check out what I hear in church, and what I read in pamphlets and books written by those theologians who are supposed to know. Because they are human, subject to the same prejudices and biases that I am-if and when I have a question, I ask the individual who made the assertion and sometimes get an answer that fully satisfies, and sometimes not. In a church body, as in anything else, you need to look at what their written confession is and check it against what God says in His Word, and go from there. Some individuals in a church may have things a bit skewed, but that does not make the entire church wrong. As to the ELCA, in general, they probably should drop the designation "Lutheran" off their name, since they are about as far from what Martin Luther espoused in his reformation as anyone can be. Faith Alone in Christ Alone by Scripture Alone. ELCA certainly has not shown that it is in agreement with Scripture in many areas, not only the homosexual agenda, but in 6 day Creation, and other vital doctrines.

jwrevagent: How interesting. I'm one of "those" also. And I left the ELCA a few years back. I think they are
trying to hide that "gay agenda" episode as the members just withheld their pledges or promises from the
Synod in response to that dumb action in Mpls. Never mentioned anymore, friends tell me. Yes, even my
WSynod sometimes drives me up a wall. Either my standards are way too high or the higher ups have
fallen off their pedestal. Tough with the CO19 and church on Zoom and just not the same but still going
and that is what IS important...Good visiting...
