President Trump signs police reform executive order — here's what it will do

'It's a step in the right direction'
President Donald Trump speaks at the event where he will sign an executive order on police reform, in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington, D.C., June 16, 2020.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order Tuesday aimed at reforming police practices in America after a series of high-profile police k*****gs sparked nationwide protests and r**ts, CNBC reported.

Trump, who is opposed to growing calls to defund police departments, is calling for increased t***sparency and accountability for police misconduct, a limit on the use of chokeholds, and increased use of non-police personnel to deal with issues related to mental health or drug addiction.

The order, titled "Safe Policing for Safe Communities," acknowledges instances of police abuse and brutality and the negative impact that has had on community relationships with police.

It establishes a national certification and credentialing system for law enforcement agencies; creates a federal database to track officers credibly accused of wrongdoing; discourages the use of chokeholds unless an officer's life is in danger; and encourages Congress to pass further police reforms.

Before announcing the order, President Trump said he met with the families of victims, including Ahmaud Arbery, Botham Jean, Antwon Rose, Jemel Roberson, Atatiana Jefferson, Michael Dean, Darius Tarver, Cameron Lamb, and Everett Palmer.

"These are incredible people ... and it's so sad. Many of these families lost their loved ones in deadly interactions with police. To all of the hurting families, I want you to know, all Americans mourn by your side. Your loved ones will not have died in vain," Trump said, according to CNN.

S. Lee Merritt, the civil rights attorney who has represented some of the aforementioned families, said the order is "a step in the right direction."

"It's too incremental to have, you know, sweeping impact," Merritt said, according to PBS. "But it's things that we need to have done among the myriad of things that we need to address this crisis. It's not a cure. But it is a way to deal with the damage from the fallout."

I don't believe the problem is with the Police. When anyone is stopped by the police they must remain calm and follow the commands from the police and don't argue or fight with the Police. If this suggestion had been followed probably 99% of those people who were shot probably would not have been shot or injured.

The problems why these law breakers get into trouble when arrested are:
1.They resist arrest.
2. They run away.
3. They fight back with the police officers.
4. They take away the police officers weapons, like guns and tasers.
5. They k**l the police officer and run away.

This was what happened just recently when Brooks was arrested due to being drunk at the wheel. Brooks a 27 year-old man was respectfully asked by the police to comply. But he refused. When the police was about to handcuff him, he resisted, wrestled with the 2 police officers. He was a huge strong man. The 2 police could not tackle him down, he was able to take the taser from the police officer and run away. As he was being pursued by the police, he turned back and tasered the police behind him trying to catch him. He turned back twice and tasered he police officer again. The police slowed on his pursuit affected by the taser. The police had no other option to save his life, and to prevent the suspect from taking away his gun, shot the Brooks, to disable him and prevent him from fighting back with the police officer. Brooks died on that pursuit.

If only Brooks complied with the police, he could not have encountered that death pursuit.

Why do most b****s commit crimes and k**l each other and other people including the police officers? Until now, there is a relentless k*****gs of police officers by the B*M's. And then all of them yell and k**l more of the law enforcement.

The law enforcement have very dangerous jobs protecting all of us. Still they are the ones blamed for everything and retaliated by k*****g them.

The Executive Order of the president after meeting with different parties, the black members of those victims families, the faith communities, black representatives, and police representatives, senators and congressmen, and many heads of the legal department.

It was a very promising executive order to improvement of the police enforcement, and also recognizing their sacrifices for protecting all of us.

No more Chock Holds are allowed for the arrested law breakers.

We need to respect and appreciate law enforcement because their jobs are to protect us. They are also human. They have families, wives, children and parents like us. When they are k**led on duty, their children and the rests of the families suffer.

If I were a cop,I’d walk away now and starve to death if necessary. The criminals need extra mental health over watch. The children of cops are suffering now and they’re innocent. This is unfair.

Yes, even the president's new executive order stated that the law enforcement takes precedence. That is saving our lives and protecting theirs too.

None sense!. One sided of what? The meeting of the mind of different groups, the black community, Congress, the Senate, all segments of the power involved in preparing this bill. It needs a bipartisan support at the Senate and in Congress for passing.

A black Senator Tim Scott, led this effort in formulating these guidelines affecting most especially the reforms for the Police Dept. performance, and the lawful enforcement within guidelines to be approved in Congress. This bill if approved is a bi-partisan recommendation to the Executive Branch, and the president is willing to implement.

I think I like Tim Scott, handling this bill, he has a promising future to move higher.

It's about time, since Trump trashed all of Obama's law enforcement reforms. And then he had the nerve to announce in the Rose Garden that Obama never did anything about police reform "because he didn't know how". And the lies keep coming, bolder and more incredible every day.

Your brain is loaded with bull crap. What a waste of life!

The law enforcement officers are required to put law in order. To protect us the American people. Most importantly to protect Baby and me who are helpless when it comes to fighting the criminals wondering around.

The new proposed bill was gathered from the minds and recommendations from various parties , the faith community included, the leaders of all involved in shaping these the protection of the people and how to handle the criminals with fairness. This is a bill that needs to be passed to both the Senate and the House. It is approved by the president. Senator Scott leads this effort, and he had demonstrated a very sincere commitment for the betterment of our people. May God bless all those involved, and hoping it will pass with bipartisan support, The democrats are mostly c*******ts and I am concerned about the direction where the party leads us.

May God bless America and all His people, and president Trump. May God bless also Tim Scott the republican black senator. I think he has a bright future to lead his people to the right direction.
