BREAKING: Atlanta police chief steps down hours after Black man fatally shot by officer
Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields is stepping down after the death of a Black man shot by police Friday night outside a Wendy's restaurant.

The shooting of Rayshard Brooks, 27, occurred after police responded to a report of a man asleep in a vehicle in a Wendy's drive-thru lane. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting a probe into the incident, which has sparked protests.

In the video, the man turns and shoots at the officer. Was it the officer's tazer as claimed or a handgun? Hard to tell.

I do see where officers will see the color of skin and if black, they will just walk away allowing them to do wh**ever crime they were up to. Is that our new America?

Long in the making a reckoning is at hand and there is no containment for either side...

That’s all I have to say, but...

Another Black will be k**led again on video at any minute and the inferno will rage across the land.

(1st mistake): The man was drunk, failed a sobriety test.

(2nd mistake): Resisted arrest, struggled with 2 police officers.

(3rd mistake): Stole an officer's taser.

4th mistake): Tried to run away, while pointing the taser backwards at the police.

Was that enough reason to shoot him? I'll leave that up to a jury to decide. Not my call or the protester's either.

What should the police have done? Just let him run away...seems that's is what the protesters think!

Facts: He is drunk & obviously "disorderly" in police lingo, he now has a weapon, that he has already attempted to use. He is a fugitive, a danger to himself and possibly to others in the community. Police at this point know nothing about this person other than he resisted arrest!

Other possible outcome: he is running, a moving target, which makes for a difficult shot, perhaps they could have shot a warning shot or just to stop & wound him, maybe that is what they intended, they shot him in the bullocks, but one bullet hit him in the back, that is the one that probably caused the most damage. Again that is up to a jury to decide.

Very sad incident, similarly repeated daily somewhere all the time. Black on black, white on black, white on white or among other races. To my knowledge the race of the 2 officers has not been identified.

Lesson to be learned: DO NOT DRINK YOURSELF INTO STUPIDNESS! DO NOT RESIST ARREST! If he had not resisted arrest, struggled with officers and taken the taser, he would have probably only been taken to jail to sleep off his drunkenness, possibly a fine & would still be alive today! SO SAD!

No matter what a black man does, if shot 'whitey' is at fault.

Most people still don’t see what’s happening Don, but they’re about to reach a fork in the road and it gets worse from there no matter which path is chosen.
