If only all b****s today were exposed to this kind of historic information at a young age it would be, potentially, a great thing for everybody; though I somehow doubt that the Democrats in control of the education system would want them exposed to such concepts as personal empowerment and personal responsibility.

Thanks for this video, I didn't know that much about Booker T. Washington.

Amen & amen!

I learned about both of these men in elementary school during segregation. Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver are two of my all-time favorite black hero's. Jackie Robison and MLK come after these two for me. I rarely recall Dubois. AL. also produced the Tuskegee Airmen, America's first black aviators who distinguished themselves during WWII. I can't really recall many Yankees that were great, except Fredrick Douglas and Willie Mays was also from AL. and he played for the Giants.

I grew up just across the tracks from b****s. We were a pretty poor family starting out. Dad was 15 and mom was 17 and I was the second child. Neither made very much money. I was a very skinny kid. Without cornbread, butter, and butter beans, I might have starved, kidding.

I was retrieving golf balls from ponds at the nearby golf course and collecting bottles for change with my black friends. I was a hustler as a kid. I needed cash for my comic books and a quarter for the Boy's Club. Then I discovered books from the Library were free for a couple of weeks. I got my Library card as soon as I could read.

I was a very tuff kid, but the first books I enjoyed were Nancy Drew books. Don't tell anyone. Then I discovered Sherlock Holmes and never looked back. My family fell apart in 4th grade and I hid out in books. My way of escaping the pain.

Dad didn't have a clue about raising kids so I mostly raised myself. Stepmom only cared about her kids. I even bought my own clothes since the 7th grade. My sister always got my hand-me-down shirts. She still says I have great taste in shirts. I don't recall her ever wearing my jeans. I tended to wear out the knees before that was cool. Then they became shorts. A good pair of Acme cowboy boots cost 20.00 and Levi's were 6.00 from Sears. Both only lasted about six months.

Hand tools and barbed wire do a number on your clothes. I was already breaking horses for money. Started out too cheap, 200/mo. I raised it 200/yr and never ran out of customers until I finished high school and joined the Air Force.

Dad was with the Fire Dept. but he always needed my money, to get by. His excuse was we only had horses for me. Although he had them long before I could ride. He didn't want me to make more money than him or to be able to spend it as I wanted. He could put it to better use.

He had three more kids to raise. I changed more diapers than he or my stepmom did. We're Irish and he got the blarney stuff, down pat. He could make me feel guilty for breathing air. It took me way too long to figure him out. He was both dad and a con artist. A terrible thing to say about your dad, but looking back, it's the only thing that explains him. I just loved him anyway. Loving him was very expensive for all who did. One way or another. LOL

Very interesting there Peewee thanks for that it is interesting to see what on in other peoples childhood. We moved to Milwaukee when I was in Jr. HIgh to q small town called Hales Corners and that lasted about 5 years. I was in lust with a girl up there but at age 16 I had an epileptic seizure which then ended my sports career as well as my desire for school. My father was fired from his job for calling on customers in the morning with booze on his breath. We had to move back to where we came from which was Rockford Illinois which is where I still live to this day. Anyway I can remember applying for a job and the interviewer asked if I was any relation to Elmer Ahmer and I said that I was his son and then he said that they were still finding booze bottles around the shop. I looked at him and said does that mean that the interview is over and he said yes and I never did hear from that company again. I am also curious as to which church you attend as the last church that I attended was an Assembly of God Church and is now more liberal in its theology. Don't go to church now but do go to the online services of a true Assembly of God church in Roscoe Illinois.

One of my best friends in the Air Force was from Rockford. I think his name was Jerry Garret. But that was way back in 85. I might be mixing up two last names.

I don't attend any church regularly. The last one I did was pastor John Hagee's church. I got tired of being disappointed in preachers. I get high-quality preaching and Bible studies from the internet and YT. My tithe gets spread around each month to those that feed me the best. I enjoy that much better. Half the hassle of going to church is wearing a suit and tie. Tee-shirts and jeans are my normal attire. Plus all my suits are too small now. I really need to donate them all to Goodwill.
