Dual citizenship is recognized by the US only in the case of Israel and Ireland. Serving in and pledging allegiance to a foreign military can be considered a denunciation of citizenship and yet Americans often serve in the Israeli military without loosing US citizenship. The relationship between the US and Israel is considered a "special relationship" why it is more special than the relationship with nations like Canada who are closer to us in many ways is perplexing. Israel like the US is a country supposedly under the rule of law in either place a child throwing rocks is arrested not beaten, and in any country with which we have diplomatic relations the embassy or consulate will intervene on the behalf of a US citizen who is arrested or the victim of a crime.

Israel does not allow American citizens to serve in their military. Even if they did, any American serving would lose their American citizenship...it is automatic.

It's d********g, is what it is. We hear very little of the barrage of rockets that sail into Israeli neighborhoods on a daily basis. I never could understand Israel's restraint. I think the fact that Hamas uses human shields plays a huge role in Israel allowing Hamas to continually send rockets into her towns.
Hamas is evil. Pure evil.

That's debatable. Children born of one Israeli parent outside of Israel in any country have automatic Israel citizenship and both sexes are required to serve in the Israeli military. Those born and living outside Israel get deferments as long as they don't come to live in Israel.

All U.S. citizens with dual Israeli citizenship are free to go serve in Israel's military. This is because it's mandatory if they live in Israel, which makes it conscription, and being conscripted does not violate U.S. law. If you go to Zululand or ? and get forced into military service, you don't lose your citizenship.

Whether non-Israeli , U.S. citizens can legally serve in Israels military, I don't know. However, there is this: 163 U.S. 632 (1985), the Supreme Court endorsed a lower court ruling that it was not a crime under U.S. law for an individual to go abroad for the purpose of enlisting in a foreign army. I do know that in WWII, many of our citizens went to England prior to our entering the war and enlisted in the British military and were honored for it.

Where U.S. Law seems to come into play in this issue is that you can't legally join a foreign military service while still in the U.S.. You have to go to the other country first, to do it.

I bet you do not watch any real news, NanaSue. The networks all have correspondents in Israel and show the incomeing rockets every nights news. It is awesome. Hamas has some new rockets from Iran, they can reach any point in Israel and carry a much bigger payload..But you will notice that with the help of American "advisers" Iraq has retaken the refinery that ISIS had control of..

I see you are pleased with Hamas sending rockets to Israel. I'll bet it is breaking your heart that Israel is responding in a like manner, and doing more damage to Hamas than vice versa.

I have no idea what the laws are, but in the USMC I was with an "escaped" IRA guy. He swore it was true. Had a bit of age, wounds and the crazy brogue in speech to prove it. He never told me of any problems enlisting, only that they let him in the US only if he joined. That was fine with him. He only wanted to get as far away from Ireland as possible. Never forget him. Turd stole my bayonet so he could pass exit inspection when he t***sferred to Overseas. Never got it back. Sarge gave me another to turn in....

Maybe not, but an Irishman in the US military seems a bit similar..

It certainly appeared that way in your post I replied to. Go back and reread what you wrote. It would seem we have differing perceptions on your comment.
