On Sunday, we woke up to an invasion of tiny grasshoppers. I'm talking 1/4 inch long or less. I sprayed Amdro Quick K**l concentrate mixed at a rate that should be k*****g bugs at your house.

Now, we have these teeny tiny little bugs that are about the size of a pissant, but have roundish bodies as best I can tell. They are in just one area, but seem to be spreading out some, and there are a gazillion of them.
They aren't in the house, or anything, but they need to go. What I sprayed Sunday seemed to make them stronger.
I'm no entomologist, so I have no clue what they are, or how to k**l them.

Any ideas?

Wow you have some strange critters in your area. I buy powdered boric acid at a pharmacy and mix it with water and put it in a sprayer. It will k**l any insect you spray with it. It eats their bodies alive. I have used it with great success many times.

Hmm- not sure but it does keep mice and rats out from under your house. I have gotten it on myself with no ill effects.

Yes, cats, too. Do not use the powder borax or spray where they can get to it. If you have a crawl space, it works great if you trench 1-2” around entire foundation & put powder in the trench. I use it outside around foundation but dig 4” fill trench back in & cover w/ mulch.

It is a very old remedy, but reliable & environmentally sound. It can be worked into garden soil to help resist insects.

I use the spray between windows & screens, makes washing them out much easier when cleaning them.

Get some peppermint oil and spray around the area and around your house, doors and anywhere you would suspect them to come in. If you can't find peppermint oil try steeping peppermint leaves or rosemary and make your own. Mike

We have tons of mint, steep it in two dedicated pots, open all the windows on pretty days & let the pots do their thing. We save enough for mint juleps, doubt few know what those are now days. They are a treat for us on Sat. afternoons on the back porch, w/ something on the griddle, looking at the land, watching the the critters, God’s pictures in the sky.

I recommend first identifying them, then proceed. Know thy enemy!
Look up birch borers, I’ve had some unpleasant experiences with them.

I'm not sure if it works or not, but my grandmother had mint plants next to foundation and she never had bugs or mice. It was something they did back on the farm when she was a kid over 100 years ago. It may have been something her parents did in the old country before they came here around 1900.

One of our businesses had the same problem with big ones last year.
They were weird. Something had deformed some of their left legs.
They were smaller than the right leg and they drug the deformed leg when they climbed the outside wall.

Use Diametrious earth, (probably spelled that wrong), food grade that can be purchased at any health food outlet. This is harmless to all creatures with less than 6 legs. Sprinkle around infected areas and the bugs be gone like magic. Bugs get it on their feet and legs and ingest it when cleaning themselves. It also cuts thru the membrane between there leg and body joints causing them to dehydrate. This can also be used for an invasion of Bed Bugs by dusting infected areas.
