Gun Control Advocate Changes Stance

Scott Kane went 38 years without ever touching a gun. That streak would have continued had it not been for the c****av***s. In March, fearful of the harassment his wife and child experienced over their Asian ancestry, Kane found himself in a California gun shop. His March 11 purchase of a 9mm would have been the end of the story, were it not for a political standoff over shutdown orders and background checks. Now Kane, a former supporter of gun-control measures and AR-15 bans, is frustrated by the arduous process that has denied his family a sense of security. The p******c has made the soft-spoken software engineer an unlikely Second Amendment supporter.

“This has taken me, a law-abiding citizen with nary an unpaid parking ticket to my name, over a month,” he told the Washington Free Beacon. “Meanwhile Joe Bad Guy has probably purchased several fully automatic AK-47s out of the back of an El Camino in a shady part of town with zero background checks.”

Receipts reviewed by the Free Beacon show Kane first purchased a firearm on March 11 from Sportsman’s Warehouse in Milpitas, Calif. Santa Clara County shut down the shop before Kane’s 10-day waiting period was complete. No end date was given for the order, but a California law giving buyers just 30 days to pick up a gun remained in effect. Kane was stuck in a legal limbo that only grew worse.

Unable to do business, the store went belly-up in May. Kane had no way to pick up his gun. He started the process over again at another store in a neighboring county. He returned home with a Springfield XD 9mm and a biometric safe on April 29, 50 days after he first passed a background check and paid for a gun.

“I’m seriously thinking of running for office or something,” Kane said. “This state’s gun laws are insane.”

When he can do so safely, I recommend that he and his wife take a NRA gun safely class and also a class on basic firearm procedures and learn how to shoot safely and on target. Just owning a gun but not using it correctly is foolish.

I imagine that the topic has been debated here many times, but the question I have is: Why do so many folks care whether or not I own a gun? School shootings are against the law. Murder and robbery are against the law.

The people against me owning a gun are the same folks that want to allow convicted felons to be let out of jail. I obey all laws. I will never go to prison unless laws are enacted to keep people like me from owning a gun. That will make me a felon, and I bet no one will allow me to escape going to prison.

I do not lobby congress to tell you what you can do. Any law you make against something guaranteed in our Constitution will lead to something even you will regret. Socialism is not free.

Correct. They are about power. The end result, however, will be that this country will be unarmed and the politicians will take over, and we will have no weapons with which to fight back.

Most of the squirrel-birds that want to take away our guns have no idea as to what this country will evolve into when only the government, and criminals, have guns. This country will be hard to defend with pitchforks.

This shut down and the ensuing power grab by the various Governors and Mayors should have shown just what will happen if this country is ever disarmed. The little "tin Gods" have put people in jail for defying their orders. Have threatened businesses with losing their licenses. Fined and jailed people for trying to feed their families. This is what unchallenged power becomes. They have trashed the Constitution without a blink of an eye. And unless someone is ready to spend a lot of money on lawyers they get away with it. However when the folks in Michigan shhowed up at a demonstration carrying arms people took notice. I'm supprised there wasn't people removed from office the hard way that day. You can only push an armed society so far.

Control of what? Control of an inanimate object, such as a gun, or control of the human, or subhuman, holding the gun. Controlling a gun is a rather simple act. Controlling the person controlling the gun is a different matter altogether.

Controlling the right of an American citizen with a legally owned gun has consequences. Taking away legal control of a legally owned gun gives the government no reason to fear the public. Without that fear, our government has become so strong and so far left that it would take away our freedom, and some dictator type will do to us, what all dictators always do to the people. And that would be a very bad thing.

I think what I posted answers your question: Gun control is not about guns.

So it's not 'control of the inanimate object' - thus leaving only the word 'control'. Typically people who advocate for 'gun control' also want to control many other aspects of people's lives. Needless to say, the Constitution and BoR are anathema to them.

I agree with you about "Control." I also believe these same people are seeking "Power." The power to control.

I have a S&W 500 magnum and a S&W 460 magnum. They are both a little difficult to control, but I manage to hit what I aim at. Controlling what I aim at is my responsibility and I take that responsibility very seriously.

I need NO control over me and my weapons. The othersiders want to let people known to need to be controlled, out of jail and prison, causing the good guys to need our weapons all that much more. They should use their power to control those folks and leave the rest of us alone.
