'Exponentially growing health consequences'

More than 600 doctors from around the country signed onto a letter Tuesday urging President Donald Trump to end lockdowns in America, describing the widespread lockdown orders as a "mass casualty incident" and warning of "exponentially growing health consequences."

In the letter obtained by Fox News, the doctors describe several of the unintended negative consequences of the shutdown orders, which include patients missing check-ups with doctors that could detect cancer and other serious conditions, an increase in alcohol and substance abuse, and financial instability leading to poverty and poor health.

"Millions of Americans are already [in critical condition]," the letter argued. "These include 150,000 Americans per month who would have had a new cancer detected through routine screening that hasn't happened, millions who have missed routine dental care to fix problems strongly linked to heart disease/death, and preventable cases of stroke, heart attack, and child abuse. Suicide hotline phone calls have increased 600%.

"We are alarmed at what appears to be the lack of consideration for the future health of our patients," the doctors added, noting real-life examples they have witnessed in their practices. "The downstream health effects ... are being massively under-estimated and under-reported. This is an order of magnitude error."

The doctors noted that since many of the resulting problems will be spread over a large area and not directly linked to confirmed cases of C****-**, they may go unnoticed.

"The millions of casualties of a continued shutdown will be hiding in plain sight, but they will be called alcoholism, homelessness, suicide, heart attack, stroke, or kidney failure. In youths it will be called financial instability, unemployment, despair, drug addiction, unplanned pregnancies, poverty, and abuse," the letter stated.

Four of the undersigned doctors told Fox News they believe the indirect effects of the shutdowns outweighed the direct consequences of lifting them.

"The very initial argument ... which sounded reasonable three months ago, is that in order to limit the overwhelmed patient flux into hospitals that would prevent adequate care, we needed to spread out the infections and thus the deaths in specific locales that could become hotspots, particularly New York City ... It was a valid argument at the beginning based on the models that were given," said Dr. Mark McDonald, a psychiatrist. "What we've seen now over the last three months is that no city — none, zero — outside of New York has even been significantly stressed."

The letter comes as many states have begun to reopen in phases, but much more slowly than perhaps was initially expected. Americans in several states across the country have taken to the streets in protest of stay-at-home orders, which have kept businesses, churches, and schools closed.

Millions have been laid off or furloughed from their jobs or forced out of business since the start of the outbreak, and many are concerned that the country has shifted from flattening the curve to indefinitely locking down until a cure is found.

There is little doubt that in the beginning nobody knew what they were dealing with. It Trump reacted, he over reacted and was a r****t. If Trump didn't act, he under reacted and caused Grandma to die.

Then came the Governors. All to many saw how Trump was criticized and blamed for deaths, that they over reacted. Some didn't and didn't fare any worse in their States on the fatality rates.

Then came the Mayors and the other local little dictators, drunk with power to bend people to their will, and all afraid of a single extra death because they are right there and would be directly blamed. And they over reacted and even closed lake fronts and parks and forest preserves and beaches and playgrounds.

Now that it is being shown to be a lot less then projected and no where near as deadly, they are afraid to open anything in case it causes even one death. Meanwhile the people under Lockdown are dying a thousand deaths from the stresses of unwarranted over confinement. Meanwhile those still working have nothing to buy and no where to spend their money.

Meanwhile people are dying or suffering or coming down with all sorts of diseases, some life threatening, because of misdirected medical services availability.

And we, the people, are directed to stay six feet apart from everyone, grand children, grand parents, siblings, parents, kids, lovers, grocers and barbers. We can only see them if masked and wearing gloves and across the street. We aren't even supposed to go for a walk around the block unless no one is coming.

And so many of the people are unable to pay rent, mortgages, health bills and insurance, and home owners insurance, car insurance, car payments, but the over priced public pensioners are still getting checks in the thousands, and the unmasked Governors are going home to mansions.

The Governors count on a v*****e that probably won't happen while they imped herd immunity for a disease that most are going to get, no matter what, or already had and showed no symptoms. And most who do die are over 65. Many are in hot spots like nursing homes and about to die from something else that will be blamed on C***d **, to justify the Governors who made a mistake of sending so many old C***d ** patients there to infect them.

And when it is all over, we will have had 6 months of our lives severely disrupted, and some won't recover for 5 to 10 years, due to other medical conditions related to the Governments responses, or businesses and life savings lost to unrecoverable business disruption and costs, or loss of homes and apartments and cars, or jobs that were no longer there after the Lockdown was over, or unexpected births, divorces, lingering medical issues including mental stresses, suicides, etc.

The Governors and Mayors, buoyed by daily press conferences that look like campaign speeches, will go on with their power trip, assured of what they can do no matter how small the crisis, if they can make it look almost like C***d **. And that strong breeze you just felt, was your Freedom being blowing away in the wind.
