For those of you out there who think that Trump has the military's back when asked by the states to extend the national guard through the end of the year the extension came but only until June 24, 89 days after deployment and one day before they would have been eligible for benefits from the deployment.

Who pays for those benefits? If you said the taxpayer, congrats. If they are deployed they have full medical benefits during that time. Not afterward. They know or should know what they signed up for. They get to stay home for the most part and do two weeks of annual training with the active duty.

It's kind of cushy duty. Those on active duty usually try to get them to go see the sights so they aren't underfoot. Most of those I've seen are not held to anywhere near the active duty standards. Especially, the weight standards.

There are fulltime guard positions if they want to retire in twenty years. Most don't, they want the best of both worlds and that's the way it works. You take the oath and sign the papers, you belong to Uncle Sam. If he says wait, you wait. If he says charge that machine gun nest, you charge. If he says your deployment ends on day 89, that just the way it works.

It's not a******l based on what little I know about Guard units. My younger brother was a fulltime guard member. He retired a few years ago.

You are absolutely right!! Aside from the fact that I had been married to a 2 tour Nam vet and my latest hubby was a navy vet... Folks are NOT listening when they go to the recruiter!, firstly, secondly, they are NOT reading the fine print!! BAD on them, NOT the recruiter... they may Want a certain type of training, or to be put somewhere they desire, that is Not how it works for either active duty or reserve, you go where you are told, and you do what you are told to do PERIOD!!.. It is for all intents a "cushy" detail, but I do have to add, that I appreciate them putting themselves in harms way regarding this v***s!..

That being said, Liberals would have you believe if you get tested you are somehow inoculated..This is Not the case.. you could test negative today!~go to the grocery store, get exposed, test tomorrow and pop positive!! Just because you are tested, does NOT mean you won't get it the next freakin day!!!

I asked him at that time, do I need to test, he felt about it like I do, he said NO.. your blood work is great.. no symptoms heart sounds good, B/P is great temp 02 was at 94%.. so NO. no test needed!..

Good for your little brother--doesn't change the fact that your president screwed them while all along claiming to have the backs of the military. He cares no more about the military than he does his banker--if he can screw someone he will--I'm just surprised he hasn't blamed Obama though you know he will if anyone points the finger at what he's done...

President Trump has not screwed anyone yet. There is more than a month to go. I understand that Liberal Hobbit fart sniffers are quick to jump on any bandwagon that even hints of malfeasance on the part of the guy who defeated darling Hillary. IF the deployment ends on June 24th, not when. I understand that never having taken the trouble to wear the uniform yourself you may not understand how these things work.

Why were they called up anyway? They weren't in my state. What benefits are you going on about anyway? As far as blaming Obama, other than leaving the emergency store shelves empty, he is irrelevant. Just like his time as President.
