Where in the constitution does it say that he has to turn over his tax returns?

There is no requirement for the president to turn over his returns. Especially when the returns in question cover a period when he was a private citizen.

And especially when the returns have nothing illegal but will be used by the opposition political party to foster more class warfare.

There is no law and nothing in the constitution that a requires a candidate or a president to disclose their taxes. "Presidents aren’t required by law to release their tax returns. Nevertheless, between 1974 and 2012, every president but Gerald Ford has made a voluntary release of the tax returns they filed while in office." Candidate Trump made a campaign promise to disclose his

In this case, Paul, I don't think the question is legal. He is not legally required to release his tax forms. It has just been common practice in recent times.

That being said....this President and his supporters sure do think he's above the law. For example, even Republican Senators told Trump that he could not take money from the DoD budget for building the wall on the southern border. Made no difference to the administration though. And unless those Republicans hold him accountable, he is above the law. It was also against the law for the administration to withhold the Ukraine security assistance v**ed on by Congress. Again, the Republican Senate did not hold him accountable.

It's no surprise then that the administration and president think they are above the law.

Barr has made no bones about the fact that he believes a president can't even be investigated since there is no point because he can't be indicted.

The concept that the president can keep congress, who's job is specifically to provide oversight on the executive branch is truly i***tic.

The president, DOJ, and GOP is saying investigations cannot have the documents and proof of what the president has done in plain sight, they say prove it, then deny the hard proof saying that without the documents there is no proof. The circular arguments hurts the minds of logical people.

How do you know the returns contain nothing illegal since no one has been able to review them?

The replies to my post reveal an astonishing lack of understanding of the cases before the SCOTUS.

The subpoena for the president's taxes have nothing to do with the tradition of p**********l candidates releasing their tax returns while running for office.

At issue is evidence of illegal activity connected to a grand jury investigation in the state of New York.
My general feeling has always been that people that have nothing to hide do not try to hide evidence.

Returns are reviewed by the IRS for illegal items.

He will during his second term after he has defeated the left and MSM. No need, to give them ammo yet. That would be illogical. I would like to hear him say, no need to, I eliminating the IRS. This country will be run on tariff income as it was in the beginning before the world wars started. We all know Central Banks funded both sides.

Do you admit or add illegal stuff to your returns? Neither does Trump.
